"I found Gene Lakin on Angie's List and he replied to my inquiry about a price quote on the same day. When he came to our home to do the estimate, it turned out that my father in law was Gene's football coach in elementary and middle school! Upon doing the assessment of the damage, we determined that we had a and quot;double ceilingand quot; in our bedroom -- meaning that the original construction had a plaster ceiling which had drywall hung over it. Gene expressed concern about repairing the drywall without having the area tested for mold since there was probably standing water in between the two ceilings. He advocated for mold remediation with our insurance company and they agreed. He truly went to bat for us! He attended the initial inspection with the mold company as well, removed a small piece of the drywalled ceiling and, in fact, there was mold. Gene visited two days after the mold issue was addressed and gave a final estimate. We scheduled him to begin working the next day. He and a helper did the bulk of the work on Wednesday and finished the job on Thursday and Friday. The ceiling is seamless, the drywall was done without a flaw, the other room he worked on is in great shape as well. I would highly recommend him. <br /> <br /> In addition, Gene goes above and beyond his craft. He offered to bring back lunch from a local eatery when he went to eat, always answered my calls and emails promptly, and was very friendly. He was a pleasure to work with, and we paid for his expertise with no reservations."

"Installed a barrier free shower, toilet, sink, light fixture and flooring. Had to remove a small closet and redo the drywall and paint. Widened a couple doors and had to do some plumbing and electrical. The workers were professional, did a good job, everything works well, and it looks excellent. Good attention to details. In fact, the project manager noticed Home Depot shipped the wrong shower piece. He was able to get it sorted out before actually installing the wrong piece that saved a lot of headache and money had they installed the wrong shower base that couldn't be used. <br />"

"Daryl was able to come out the day after I called. We had arranged for him to call when he was on his way so I could come home and meet him. He called within the window he said he would. The problem was what he had suspected it was when we talked on the phone, so he had the part and the repair went quickly. He was careful about not getting water on the floor as he defrosted the back of the freezer, and answered all my questions politely and professionally. He also retrieved my cat, who snuck out the door when he was taking his tools back to the car. (That was my fault - I'd gone to get my wallet and wasn't keeping an eye on her.) <br />"

"About a year prior to this repair, we had a brand new AC unit installed by another HVAC technician that was hired by our Property Management company and the unit stopped cooling.  The other technician would not even answer calls or emails.  Wayne had completed some handyman work for us before so he was the first one I thought to try to get this fixed.  When Wayne went out, he discovered all the coolant had leaked out due to an incorrect installation.  He even discovered the fan on the outside unit was running the wrong way.  Wayne did a great job of reaching out to the manufacturer of the unit and probably saved us several thousand dollars.  Luckily this wasn't an emergency fix but he still completed the entire project within a couple of days during the middle of summer when he was super busy.  He is always very responsive, communicative and sticks to his timeline.  Highly recommended!"

"Jimi and Holly did a great job! They showed up every day on time at 8am and were done ahead of schedule. We are in the process of selling our home and wanted to freshen up some rooms we had not gotten around to paint. So on the recommendation of our Realtor she suggested I check with Jimi. I followed up with a a review check here on Angie's list and found the reviews to be positive. So I contacted him. When he came by I told him my intentions and he pointed out ways for me to save some $$$ since I would be selling my home. He gave me a quote and it remained the same with the exceptions of some minor changes in one color and an additional area to be done. but the only up-charge was for the paint which was very reasonable. While Jimi and Holly started together, Jimi had other clients to serve as well and would go to take care of them and Holly took care of the painting and did a great job. They are very neat and cleaned up after the work was done in each room. <br />"
