"Just finished the replacement of 28 windows and one sliding door. All aspects of the project were above expectations from the initial consultation with Danny and quote to the final installation. The Marvin Infinity windows are first class and coupled with the expert installation have transformed the look of my 32 year old house. My installer Eddie was the hardest worker I have seen in a very long time. His expertise and attention to detail were outstanding. A significant rebuild was required for my new kitchen window and Eddie did a masterful job reconfiguring the area including a new roof in that area. The alcove in the living room with 6 windows presented challenges with all the exterior trim work required but came out perfectly. Weather presented a challenge on several rainy days but it hardly slowed him and his helper down. In today’s world it’s hard to find people like this that care about the quality of their work."

"Very hard to initially schedule a time or receive call backs but once the time was set up, everything went very well. They had limited product selection but we were able to do all windows but one and the coverings came in much ahead of schedule and installation was very quick and well done. Installation and cordless shades were no upcharge which kept the price down quite a bit."

"Beyond expectations. Had other window cleaner refuse to take off storm windows because of their age and condition. Dan had no problem with that. Very thorough job. Windows had a LOT of grime and required a lot of work. He was prompt and very pleasant to work with. I'm having him come back again in early summer to keep up the maintenance. <br /> Definitely would recommend his company again. <br />"

"From the initial contact, Nathalie and Misha took care of all my concerns and were quick to respond to my many emails with various questions about process, pricing, and procedure. They got me on the schedule quickly and without issue. Meanwhile, the folks they sent out to do the screens, Dillon and Nic, are consummate professionals. They came and took measurements, they asked if I would prefer they mask up (this has not been a common thing with contractors we've had out for other reasons, so this was an especially thoughtful and meaningful touch), and they were in and out in less than three hours. They were particularly mindful of our cats, escape artists that they usually are. I had initially declined to have the screen door locks installed because apparently I had underestimated my cats, but when we discovered the cats figured out how to open the screen doors, a quick email to Screenman and they were quick to come back out and put them in. We had no screens when we started and now we don't have to use our air conditioner on account of the crossbreeze. The money we're saving on electrical shows an immediate benefit to our quality of life, and the cats now have windows they can lay in without us having to worry whether they'll escape to god-only-knows. I cannot begin to emphasize enough how worth it the whole process was, start to finish. As someone who works in customer service I can appreciate an "above and beyond" experience and it is absolutely impossible to emphasize how above and beyond this whole thing was. Five stars isn't even close to enough. If I could go ten or even fifteen I would! Thank you so much!"

"They were efficient, friendly (my dog agrees), and the windows look great. You cannot forget that they are coming and be unprepared, as they give you many text and email reminders. They remove and replace all screens, and in the past had warned of broken screens so I could get them replaced."

"Great! The shed was easy to order and we talked through some options and my requirements over the phone. The installer was terrific. He was nice, prompt, and a great guy. Not much more to say other than at 10am there was nothing in my back yard and by that afternoon that was a new shed installed and ready to be filled with stuff. Quality and build seem pretty good and I am looking forward to using it for many, many years. <br />"

"In my experience there are two kinds of contractors: Those who create problems, and those who fix problems. Jason Blundell, owner, glazier and carpenter at Clear Image Glass, is someone who fixes problems. He does things right, even when it meant rearranging his schedule and working very long hours in unpleasant conditions.     <br /> <br /> I hired Jason to replace nine windows in two bays in the front of our house in early November. In August, the painters had assured me that there was no dry rot in the two-story bay, but I was still suspicious. A similar bay in the back of the house had had to be completely redone, and there was an odor in the ground floor room behind the bay. So I paid Jason to do a complete window replacement, in which the glazier pulls all the trim inside and outside, and installs the window as though it was going into new construction.  The work of removing the trim, installing windows, and replacing trim would take one day.   <br /> <br />  In reality, Jason and the millwork carpenter, Jesse Martindale, ended up working past dark in the rain for two days. Jason could have avoided all this extra work had he just told me the same story the painters did: the bay was fine, no dry rot.   <br /> <br /> But the bay wasn?t fine. The dry rot was so advanced in places that you could put a finger right through the wood, and it was incredible that anyone would have painted it. Had it been ignored for another year, the rot would have gone so deeply into the bay?s supports that we would have been completely rebuilding that bay at a cost of at least $5000. Jason didn?t ignore that damage, even if the painters did. So even though it wasn't part of the original project, Jason and his crew pulled all the trim and siding, replaced the damaged plywood underneath, and swathed the bay in Tyvek. Jason then redesigned and installed the siding and trim on the bay, adding flashing so that the bay would not have the same water accumulation issues that had caused the dry rot in the first place.   <br /> <br /> The design and workmanship on the bay are noticeably better than they were before the project started. The odor in the room is gone. I no longer worry about dry rot in that bay. And I have an excellent glazier to keep in mind for the next window replacement. <br /> <br />  Lessons learned from the painting and the window replacement: First: Hire someone like Jason Blundell who does the work himself, because he?s got a stake in the reputation of his business. Second: Jason is very flexible and will do whatever you want, but take Jason?s advice. In addition to his skills and experience in building weatherproof structures, he?s got a good eye for design. Third: If you have the trim removed as part of window replacement, buy and paint or finish new trim before the contractor starts. I hate to add to the landfills, but it?s really not a good idea to reuse old wood, and if you discover a problem like dry rot, you?ll be ahead of it."

FAQs for new windows service projects in Gig Harbor, WA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
