"We had Emergency Air out to provide a repair to our air conditioning and provide a quote on a new system as ours is 15+ years old. For reference, I have a 1300 sq ft, 20 year old home. Well, that was a mistaken. First off, Emergency Air runs the sleazy used car dealer playbook - presenting monthly payments vs. total price, claiming it will be impossible to get your problem resolved if you don't sign up right now, acting like they are your friend giving you the best deal and why would you shop around? They provided a quote of $23,000 for a single stage HVAC install (attached). Upon calling 3 other established, licensed, well reviewed contractors, I received quotes between $8,000 and $15,000 depending on equipment/brand/etc. None of the other 3 were pushy and insisted on needing to make a decision today. No slimeball used car dealer tactics. You can look up for yourself what new single stage HVAC is for a 1300 sq ft home. It's well under $23,000 and no brand or contractor can justify charging 2-3x market rate....unless that contractor is Emergency Air, apparently. When called out on the fact their pricing is insane, our sales rep started asking if the other quotes were "Builder Quality" which is made up. Go Google what "builder quality HVAC" is. It's a standard system. I have absolutely nothing nice to say about Emergency Air and recommend you avoid doing business with them."

"I had Mark the owner of AZTRADEPROS come and install a custom bar top for me. I needed something simple yet stylish. He spent about 35 hours on it and I paid him for those 35 hours. He helped me get materials and save the most money by coming with me and helping me purchase it. We ended up with pretty much zero scrap. Everything we bought was used. We made use of his truck a lot which was great. Lots of wood working. It came out exactly as I had hoped and his presence was very enjoyable throughout the process. Very courteous, communication was great, cleaned up after himself, checked in with my often to ensure things were moving in the direction I had preferred, so each hour of his time was put to the best use. I will be hiring him for small other small jobs and keep him in my contacts as a great all around handymen. He has lots of stories of his prior work and he takes passion in whatever he does. Heated driveways either heat up with electric coils or from hot water flowing through pipes, coming from your boiler. These electric cables and pipes are generally only a couple of inches under the surface. As they heat, they heat up the thermal mass of the asphalt or concrete, which melts away the snow and ice. They usually run for an extra period after all the snow is melted to dry out the surface and avoid ice accumulation.

Your driveway will melt much faster in 32 degrees than it will at zero degrees. So expect your results to vary a bit.

This issue arises when the coils or tubes are not installed correctly, resulting in stress on the pavement.
