"It is uncommon to find a contracting company that so seamlessly meets my expectations but they were simply excellent. My hot water heater cracked on a Thursday afternoon and I was looking to replace it with a tankless variety. I contacted several businesses and most would not even come to my home until the following week let alone have tankless systems on hand to install promptly. I was given a quote up front in 5 minutes after contacting them and wiithin 24 hours the job was done. They worked quickly and efficiently, cut no corners, were professional and, most importantly, clearly had pride in their work. I would recommend them to others without hesitation."

"We were so happy to have Sullivan Super Service (Plumbing, Heating, Cooling) come today to repair our central air conditioning unit and to service our HVAC system. Sullivan's technician, Bob Anderson, was polite, professional and experienced. We greatly appreciated his knowledge and counsel. Our AC has been out for a few days in a current hot spell, and Sullivan was the only company that contacted us. They proved the old saying that in winning, half of the battle is just in showing up and being there. We were not Sullivan customers before, but we are now! Sullivan's service was SUPER!"

"Woke up on the coldest day of winter (so far) to find our furnace had stopped working overnight. called John at about 8:30 a.m., and he had a team of technicians at our home within about two hours. He even stopped out himself to check in, drop off some parts, and talk to me about my long-term needs for a new furnace and A/C unit. The team worked fast, and the charge for the work was even less than they estimated when they'd arrived. This is the second time we've called John's folks for heating or cooling service, and we'll absolutely use and recommend them again."

"Of course it was the one of the hottest weeks of the year when the AC started having issues, since we had a home warranty we used a company they provided, they were terrible, said the part would take a week to order and receive and then they'd schedule installation, on top of that the technician they sent was a total jerk. We then contacted Climatech, the technician stopped at the end of his shift on a Friday and got us patched up so we could temporarily run the AC while they sized out a new Furnace and AC to replace the 20+ year old system we had. Two weeks later they installed the system and in less than two days we were back up and running with a brand new system."

"Homer 9 and Sons were excellent to work with from start to finish. They responded promptly to my request for a quote and worked closely with me to ensure that I understand all of my options throughout the entire purchasing process. On installation day the entire crew arrived promptly on time and got to work immediately. They were able to replace both my entire furnace and AC as well as install several new registers and a return to add heat to a finished basement all in a single day. The entire crew was friendly and professional the entire time they were in my home. I can't recommend Homer 9 and Sons strongly enough. Every person I worked with at the company from Shaun in sales, to Ken in installation planning, and to Perry and his installation crew were excellent to work with from start to finish. Would absolutely hire again."

FAQs for radiant floor heating system installation projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Heated driveways either heat up with electric coils or from hot water flowing through pipes, coming from your boiler. These electric cables and pipes are generally only a couple of inches under the surface. As they heat, they heat up the thermal mass of the asphalt or concrete, which melts away the snow and ice. They usually run for an extra period after all the snow is melted to dry out the surface and avoid ice accumulation.

Heated driveways will melt off snow at a rate of about two to three inches per hour. The actual rate of melt depends on the temperature you have the heating set at, the type of driveway you have, and the climate you're in. Your driveway will melt much faster in 32 degrees than it will at zero degrees. So expect your results to vary a bit.

Heated driveways may crack if the embedded heating elements are positioned too near the surface or if a system malfunction occurs. This issue arises when the coils or tubes are not installed correctly, resulting in stress on the pavement. Once the heating system is fully corrected, the necessary repair involves sealing the cracks and resurfacing. This process restores strength and ensures lasting durability.

When installed and maintained correctly, a heated driveway lasts between 15 and 20 years, on average. Proper installation using professional standards and regular maintenance of components such as the boiler and wiring guarantees long-lasting performance. Consistent care and timely repairs secure the system's durability, ensuring reliable operation throughout its expected lifespan.

A heated driveway increases home value by enhancing curb appeal and ensuring safety during snowstorms. This reliable system adds a high-value feature that stands out in areas with heavy snow, reducing the need for manual snow removal. Homeowners benefit from improved aesthetics and energy efficiency, which contributes significantly to overall property marketability.
