"Matt and I discussed the potential work over the phone, and he was able to give me an accurate estimate of cost, so I gave him the go-ahead to do the work.  He arrived on time with an assistant and got started right away.  In all, the work to strip and finish the tub took about 4 hours, as Matt told me to expect.  I believe drying time was 24 hours.
The results are terrific.  The tub looks good as new - shiny and bright  As an added bonus, the bottom of the tub is textured, meaning I no longer have to mess with a plastic bathmat. 
The tub is original to the home and, over time, the stopper in the drain disappeared.  I bought the home several years ago and have had to use a rubber stopper in order to fill the tub.  You know the know kind...a white rubber stopper complete with a chain.  Matt turned me onto a company who sell a cool fix for that problem.  I ordered a new drain, in the finish of my choice, that glued right on top of the existing drain (with a built in adhesive) including an integrated pop-up stopper and a strainer.  I bought a 2 piece set that included an overflow to match the drain and the total cost was around $50.  Thanks for that tip Matt!

"We own a condo in Lincoln Park in a very old building. They came to unclog a drain and discovered there was a broken pipe.  The concern was how far down the break was and if it was outside of our unit.  We were able to get access to the unit below, coordinating with J. Blanton, my tenant and the owner of the unit below. We did have to cut a hole in the wall.  The issue was contained to our unit and the hole in the wall was relatively small.  Plumbers were responsive and professional.  I highly recommend J. "We were suffering with a loud fog horn like sound whenever the hot water faucet was turned on in our bathroom sink. Brian arrived on time and was very pleasant and professional as he analyzed the situation. Since there was also a small leak after turning off the cold water, he provided a firm quote to replace both cartridges which I approved. Getting started, he found it extremely difficult to disassemble the faucets to get down to the cartridges since all of the components were fused tight. Working methodically and carefully, Brian was able to complete the installation without harming the faucet. But in all honesty, I have never seen anything that was more difficult and that required more patience. Brian successfully completed the work and stuck to his quote even though it was much more difficult than anyone could have imagined. I would like to thank Brian for all of his efforts and also The Scottish Plumber for taking such good care of our plumbing needs over the years. Brian is a credit to his profession."

We gave a deposit and decided to pay in full at the end of the project, so the materials were ordered. Material arrived on time, we scheduled the installation, and we pulled the dream installation team of Bill and Lennon. These two were amazing, they took out the old tub/shower and had the new walk-in shower installed in day one. They were very professional, personable, and knew what they were doing. They were back on day two to install the floor, vanity, linen closet, mirror, and towel bars. We are absolutely thrilled with the end result.
