Russell and two of his crew removed two existing powered roof attic ventilation fans from our roof and replaced them with two new fans.  The motor on one of the fans had burned out, and since both fans were the same age, we decided to replace both fans.  The cost of a new motor was about the same as the cost of an entirely new fan.  Russell picked up the new fans on the way to the job site.  The pitch of our roof is very steep, so access to the fans was not easy.  Some roofers will replace these fans but will not disconnect or reconnect the electrical wiring.  Russell and his crew handled the electrical as well.  Access to the fans from the inside of our attic is not practical because of the roof height, so they had to have enough slack in the electrical cable that was attached to enable the fans to be removed and pulled out from above with the wiring still attached.  Russell went into the attic and disconnected the electrical cable from the studs to enable this to be done.  He replaced the electrical cable on one of the fans that was shorter than the other to facilitate its removal if this ever happens again.  He did not charge me for the new cable.  He charged me for the actual cost of the fans plus the labor for his crew.  The new fans are very quiet.  It rained one day after the job was completed and I checked in the attic....there were no leaks around the fans. 

The fans are thermostatically controlled, and it was not hot enough the morning that they were installed to cause them to run.  So we could not confirm that they actually would run while Russell and his crew were here.  After they were gone, the attic temperature did get hot enough, and I confirmed that the fans did come on as they are supposed to do.  Russell called the next morning to confirm that they did come the afternoon of the job.

I was very pleased with the job and would definitely use Russell and his crew again.

"On time. On budget. We had an interesting conversation over their contract but the owner worked with me to come to an equitable modification we could both live with. There was a part of the work bracing joist that was cut out for the toilet drainpipe that was not done correctly. Once I reported it, I was told I was correct and that they would have someone back to fix it correctly. All that happened as they said it would. No big job ever goes perfectly. "Closest to Perfect we've experienced in years. Work was done quickly but conscientiously. Care shown for exposed household items. Clean-up, courtesy, explanation of what was completed including several minor things we overlooked that needed attention. Above and beyond what we contracted for; better than anything we expected. Past experience with similar firms has ranged from disappointed to law suits. S&S is superior to every other firm we've done business with since living here. Excellent communication.
