"We were very happy with the repair of the hinge on our storm door. He repaired it by replacing a few washers that has gone missing. Other repair people recommend we replace the whole door."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Dave, along with Granite Plus was hired to renovate our kitchen counter. Dave's job was to cut down the counter from bar height to counter height. Expertise in carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing and electrical was necessary. Dave coordinated these specialties along with the Granite Plus folks such that the entire project was completed on schedule and without issues. While dust was a given during the project, Dave sealed off the kitchen in a floor to ceiling plastic room and utilized an air purifier to nearly eliminate the spread of dust. Each night his crew "Swiffered" the kitchen clean. Our old sink & plumbing was functional but for only one day! Then, promptly after Granite Plus installed the new quartz countertop, Dave's guys returned to install the new sink, etc. All was seamless! Dave and his crew did such an impressive job, I hired him thereafter to change out 2 ceiling fans, 3 ceiling lights and retrofit the kitchen cabinet drawers & doors with soft closure hardware. Upcoming, Dave has been hired again to perform additional plumbing and electrical work in our condo. You can depend on Dave!"

"Called "Big Dave" on a Monday morning after running into an issue trying to DIY repair my bathroom sink the prior evening. Dave was unable to come out for an estimate/evaluation until the following day, thats fine, we have a second bathroom. I explained over the phone that my wife would be home when he came by on Tuesday AM. He showed up around the time he described which was "whenever I get done with my 930 AM service call". Basically Dave took a look at the sink for about 10-15 mins and decided he couldn't fix it in the amount of time he had on Tuesday. OK, fine. He offered to email a quote and schedule out for the following week based on our availability which we provided. We received no communication back from Dave on Wednesday through the following Monday morning. I emailed Dave Sunday night with no response. I texted Dave's phone and left a voicemail on Monday morning. Dave finally emailed back around 3PM that afternoon reportedly having been in meetings "all day" - he wrote "Unfortunately, we will not have a technician available until mid-to-late next week to do the work at your home." That would put the work being STARTED almost 3 weeks after the initial call was made. No written estimate was ever provided, only a verbal offer that the work "might take up to 4 hours" and would probably cost between $200-400. I rarely go out of my way to provide poor feedback, but the communication here was dreadful. It seems like there are quite a few Handymen out there and he was just complacent to have someone else take his business. On his Angie's List description he notes "To state clearly as possible, we're not the right fit for everyone. We're not the fastest. We're not the cheapest. But our clients say, we are the best.... we refuse to settle for anything less than the very best." He is certainly upfront about a few things, particularly with respect to not being the fastest, however, I hardly believe the "refuse to settle" for less than the best as was the case in our service call. In the end, we looked elsewhere for a handyman because of the abysmal communication and protracted timeline to complete a relatively small job."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

FAQs for cabinets repair projects in Grafton, WI

The timeframe for kitchen cabinet removal varies significantly based on quantity and installation complexity. Professional contractors typically complete standard kitchens within 4 to 8 hours, though complicated configurations involving plumbing or electrical components may extend to 1 to 2 days. Homeowners tackling this as a DIY project should allocate substantially more time—often 1 to 3 full days—as careful extraction requires methodical work to prevent property damage.

Kitchen cabinets can indeed be salvaged for reuse when removed carefully. Construction material significantly impacts success rates—hardwood cabinets generally survive extraction better than composite materials, which tend to chip or break. For optimal preservation, document the original layout, remove doors and hardware first, then methodically detach units from walls and adjacent cabinets. Professional removal significantly increases the likelihood of successful cabinet preservation.

Disposal options for kitchen cabinets depend largely on their condition and your local waste management regulations. Cabinets in reasonable condition might find new homes through donation centers or online marketplaces. For damaged units, professional waste removal services offer convenience, while dumpster rentals provide flexibility for larger projects. Some municipalities offer special collection services for bulky items, though advance scheduling is typically required.

Wall damage during cabinet removal represents a legitimate concern for many homeowners. The risk varies based on installation methods—cabinets attached directly to drywall without backing supports pose greater challenges than properly mounted units. Professional removal minimizes damage through specialized techniques and appropriate tools. Even with careful extraction, expect some minor wall repairs. Older installations and homes with plaster walls require particularly delicate handling to prevent significant damage.
