"For years I have wanted to update my very old and inefficient American Standard cast iron boiler. I was very fortunate to find Mr Joe Burriesci the owner of Mayjac Plumbing who took the time to evaluate the best options, since the old boiler handled two apartments. We collectively decided to go with two Navien Combi Condensing Boilers, but the best part of the entire process was how meticulous the installation was done. From start to finish Mayjac Plumbing kept every promise and timeline made. I highly recommend Mayjac Plumbing..."

"Daniel came and was able to replace the pipe which was not easy to get to, He had to take apart a ceiling with tongue and groove paneling to get at the pipe. He did an excellent job and in a shorter time than I thought it would take."

"We were in the process of selling out home, and one of the maintenance items was the waste line. J&C responded to our phone call the same day to give us a quote to fix the line. After careful examination the plumber stated that no repair was needed, and provided a written report so stating for the buyer. They did not charge for this service.

"If you had asked me that day was I happy, I would have said yes. However, on 1/31/17 I had no hot water. I texted the owner of the company, but received no response. I then called the office, and the woman that answered the phone said the owner was unavailable, but someone would call me back. No one did. I had to call another plumber who cleaned out the damper and charged me $95. Still Holzhauer did not get back to me. I then sent an email during the week of 2/13/17. I didn't receive a reply. Finally, I sent a letter via US mail on 2/16/17. Then, on 2/17/17, the hot water went off again. I did not call Holzhauer back, as they did not respond to my previous requests. I had to pay $435 for a new damper. In addition, the automatic feed for water was putting too much water in the tank. That had to be drained. The spigot attached to that was leaking, and had to be repaired as well. This system is under a year old. I feel that Holzhauer should have repaired any issues without question."

"The company was very responsive to my need to fix a gas leak in my basement.I called them one night and the next day they were there. They were late but owner called to notify me of the tech(also an owner) running late so I was fine with that.I liked that the owners are the ones doing the work, not untrained techs.I initially had one gas leak I knew of but the owner found a second one. They gave me an estimate I agreed and they got to work. The work was done professionally and they even rerouted the gas line for me while fixing the leak. All in all very good experience.Look forward to working with them in the future."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Greenport, NY

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
