"Everything was great, and even a side-question about an outlet in the house was quickly figured out. Mike thought things through and established that the faulty outlet was going out on us because of an adjacent outlet. This is the kind of problem we've had in the past that often stymies electricians, but Mike knew how to work through the problem until he located the difficulty. That's what we call a top-notch electrician."

"They were very quick and professional and did a clean job. I believe it was priced fairly and he gave me the option to supply the parts myself or to include them in the invoice. I opted for everything included because it was less for me to worry about. I will definitely use them again next time for future projects."

"Aaron has been to my home a few times for separate issues. One was an intermittent problem that was hard to figure out and he stayed on it, asking for more data. As soon as I was able to give him a few more details when it happened again, he knew right away what the problem was and it was fixed. He comes in a super timely manner, is super professional and a problem solver. I would continue to use him for future jobs and would recommend him to family and friends!"

"My solar company hired these guys to repair my soffit that was caused by moving an electrical mast for my panels. The tech they sent out, Jon Hunter, did an excellent job patching the hole and painting the exterior. Jon was highly courteous, professional and thorough and I will be a regular Cranston customer now, as a result."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Greensboro, NC

Yes, the National Electrical Code mandates GFCI protection for all outdoor outlets. These specialized outlets detect minute current imbalances that could indicate electricity flowing through water or a person rather than the intended circuit. When detected, they automatically disconnect power within milliseconds, providing crucial protection against shock hazards in moisture-prone outdoor environments.

Professional electricians complete straightforward outdoor outlet installations in one to two hours. More complex projects involving lengthy wire runs, wall penetrations, or panel modifications may require several hours to one day or more. DIY installations often take considerably longer due to the learning curve, safety precautions, and potential troubleshooting required.

While installing an outdoor outlet is technically possible for homeowners with electrical experience, it's not recommended as a DIY project. Outdoor electrical installations involve specialized knowledge of weatherproofing techniques, grounding requirements, and electrical codes. Mistakes can lead to serious safety hazards, property damage, code violations, and potential insurance complications. Professional electricians bring expertise that ensures both safety and compliance.
