"David arrived early (after calling first) and got right to work on the fan/lighting unit, which works and looks great. He advised me thoroughly on pros and cons of going forward with drywall repair before roof patch was 'tested' by rain, but I decided to go ahead. He ran out for some drywall which cost me hardly anything. All efficiently and without chit-chat, which I highly value as I work at home. I was so surprised at all he got done in four hours. With the Angie's List coupon, I feel like I got a steal of a deal. <br />"

"We bought a "fixer upper" in Troy in the summer of 2018 and the entire HVAC system was 20+ years old. After doing a lot of research I decided I wanted an American Standard Furnace and AC system because consumer reports rated them as the most reliable brand. Tony was one of the few contractors that offered American Standard Products. I took bids from 5 different contractors for the furnace and hot water heater. Tony came out himself to look around and give the initial bid. He was very personable and was happy to answer all my questions. And I will tell you honestly I had a lot of questions. I meticulously researched Furnaces and Hot water heaters before I was ready to drop thousands of dollars. Tony emailed me back and forth 3 or 4 times answering questions before I finally awarded Custom Temperature Control the contract. Installation of the furnace and hot water heater was mostly problem free. I do give honest reviews so I will say there was one issue. When I brought this up to Tony, he came out himself the next morning to rectify it. 6 months later summer was approaching and it was time for a new AC system. Once again I did a lot research and took bids for several contractors. Once again Tony came out for more than an hour and went over my questions with me. Once gain he followed that with about 3 or 4 email exchanges providing answers to my detailed questions. And once again he was the lowest bid… by far. For an identical set of AC coils and compressor his bid was between $400 and $1,000 less than the other contractors. The other contractors had quality reviews on Angie’s list as well, but not as many total reviews as Tony. He also included a new a line, something the other contractors wanted to charge me additional money for (or use the old line which I read was not a safe bet). Installation of the AC system went smoothly. It’s clear to me Tony beats out his competitors on price, customer service, and customer satisfaction. One other thing that I like about Tony is that he offers multiple HVAC brands. Most places only offer 1 brand. Tony offers as many as 5 if I recall correctly. To me this says he puts the customer first because he is willing to offer a variety of choices instead of pushing one brand. I would recommend Custom Temperature Control to all my friends and family."

"The service was excellent! They arrived to pick up the vehicle a day earlier which was great. They delivered the vehicle right to my daughter's door and found a side street to unload. The service was delivered within the time frame given. All of my questions were answered via phone or email and the paperwork was seamless and the price was very reasonable."

"In most respects, it was an excellent experience. Ben is very knowledgeable in a wide range of the house construction trades, with many years of experience, so he was a great choice for doing a wide-ranging upgrade like this. <br /> In addition to his work, he was able to provide valuable guidance on the selection of materials, or other alternative approaches that could save money. For instance, when it came to installing screen doors, he recommended that we buy them from Home Depot and use the Home Depot installation service because their price was better than what he could do it for. I really appreciate that kind of honesty and helpfulness. Having access to his knowledge, for instance, of a good place to buy kitchen cabinets (which was a major part of the whole job) saved a lot of time and avoided a lot of potential problems. <br /> Another great thing was that he was not trying to nickel & dime you for every little extra. I did spend a lot of time beforehand trying to list each item of work that needed to be done, and he spent a fair amount of time before the contract was signed providing individual prices for the items, so that things were pretty well scoped out. (Detailed contracts always help to minimize potential areas of misunderstanding. ) But inevitably in such a large job, some additional things would come up, or some changes to the scope would occur. For the little ones, it was simply "No charge". (Likewise, when there were some minor things in the original contract that did NOT need to be done, I let those go without asking for a credit, so it works both ways.) <br /> However, one thing that Angie's List users should know: Ben is a one-man operation. This, of course, enables him to keep his prices low, since he has very little overhead. He will occasionally sub-contract some of the work to some friends or other he knows, who are also very well-qualified. But he generally does not have the option of shortening the schedule by simply adding extra manpower to the job in the way that a larger firm would. He also has family responsibilities, so there are limits on the overtime/weekend work option. If there is a delay for some reason in the middle of the job, chances are very good that it will delay the end date of the job. So keep this in mind if you are doing a job that is "time-critical". (In our case, delays from the landscaper and the realtor matched the delays in Ben's work, so the fact that the work went on about 3 weeks longer than originally planned was not a huge problem.) <br /> In the end, though, all of the work was done to a high standard, and the final price was almost exactly the same as the contract amount, since the major extras were neutralized by ways we found to reduce the costs in some areas. So, I was very happy with the final outcome. <br /> And, on the bottom line: The house must have looked pretty good, because we got an offer from a buyer on the first weekend it went on the market, and were able to settle on a price that was more than 99% of the asking price. So, the money spent on the improvements turned out to be a wise investment. <br />"

"Mark installed our home windows at a great price and with great service. He was responsive and timely, not only with the initial installation, but in TWO subsequent follow-ups to replace a damaged window. Mark goes above and beyond and I will continued to work with 21st Century for our upcoming front door project."

"Andrew did a great job - he responded to all of my eMail questions promptly. Once I decided to move forward he set (2) dates, one for the removal and one to complete the installation. He was prompt on both - removed all of the old junk/cement - and installed the new one perfectly. Looks great - the adjustable height is on the money - and it is perfectly straight. Would definitely hire again."

"Overall, the process went well. 8 weeks from order to install (first try). Everything was not done the first time due to an error in measurement - so new glass was ordered. Unfortunately, on round 2, the second picture window cracked - but 2 weeks later all done and looking good! As an aside, IWR was on time, the team hustled, and clean up after themselves. Second, 8 weeks was NOT an awful wait for a May order. Any construction firm with no backlog, might not have healthy orders."
