"I had taken my car to Midas because the car squeeks. Work done were:
Brake pad (front), disc brake rotor (front), align/bal/rotate, oil change and brake flush. Total cost $787.40. After driving the car for a day, the squeek came back and the brake felt loose. I decided that I can live with that. However, a new problem developed. My engine light came on. I decided to take the car back to Midas and ask them to fix the engine light problem and while they're at it, see why the squeek is still present and check on the loose brake.
Midas kept my car overnight. I had to call them the next day to find out what's the problem. An hour later they returned my call. Diagnosis: They can't fix my engine light problem but I need the rear brake fix for an estimated cost of $600.00+
I went online. Checked Angie's List. Picked up my car from Midas and drove straight to Kaimuki Auto Repair.
Mr. Nakamura (the owner) patiently heard my story. Decided to check for the squeek and light problem by driving the car. Well, no squeek and no light indicator appeared. His advise was and quot;Take your car home and if the engine light comes back, bring the car in.and quot; I drove the car from Kaimuki to Hawaii Kai and back. No engine light problem. Later in the day, I drove about 2 miles on the freeway and the light came back on.
I took my car back to Mr. Nakamura. They later called to let me know that I do have a problem with my heating/cooling system. That the parts will be from the dealer and it will be expensive. I knew about the parts cost and that was to be expected. What was totally unexpected was their labor cost. I had expected to pay as much or more than the cost for the parts. Labor was inexpensive, approximately a third of the replaced parts. I'm a very happy customer.
"

"First, they were the quickest of the four companies that I contacted to respond and get an estimate. The owner was out the next day with his tablet and took detailed notes, measurements, and pictures of what I wanted. He had the estimate back to me within the next two days. He even offered to include adding space for a window a/c unit!
His estimate was over $2000 less than the other guys who I had to wait 2 weeks on estimates on! Of course, I immediately agreed and paid the 50% up front cost to order the materials on 20 JUN.
30 JUL the guys showed up and immediately got to work at 0900. By 1500 they were done with removal, installation, cleanup, and even installed the a/c unit for me! The guys were really polite, friendly, and professional. It's been a month and I have had no problems whatsoever with the work that they did. I use the door/windows/ac unit every single day.
Very very pleased that I chose this company!
"

"I contacted John through email. He responded immediately and tried to give me a good estimate on my needs. He responded soon after the request was sent. He estimated the job would cost approx $270.00 by replacing just the motor and fan but not the housing. I commented that It would not be efficient to just replace the fan. I asked if he would like to see some pictures I took. I could not send him pictures from my phone using Angie's List since the phone app did not have a way to attach it.
I told him that access through from the top of the fan would not be possible since I live in a condo. After reviewing the pictures I sent John, he commented that the installed exhaust fan was "old school" and that He could not perform the job.
That was the last I heard from him. He could have gave me a referral to another contractor or some suggestions but "old school" does not help me figure out what to do.

"

"Job went well. Handyworks was the only one with the ingenuity to repair the fallen mailbox post rather than to remove/replace it.
That saved a considerable amount of time and money, less than half the cost and probably less than half the time as well.
All in all, very much pleased with the service performed.
"

"I found this company from an ad in the home show magazine. When I found their shop by the airport I loved
their display of doors. I had been shopping at least a year for unusual doors to give my tiny (1100 sq. ft)
remodel some personality. They had a stunning built in armoire which I loved but was sure would be out of my
price range. I was pleasantly surprised by the price quoted. If was half of what Lowes had quoted for a similar
set of cabinetry and I could order exactly what I wanted because each piece was custom designed. The doors
for the guest room were a bit expensive for my modest budget but they were so beautifully carved with graceful
bird-of-paradise, that I couldn't resist. I wanted two sets of narrow double hung doors for my master closet.
I wanted to avoid the ho-hum sliding mirrored doors. Pacific Craftworks designed exactly what I wanted and
matched the finish of the door to my existing woodwork.
It took 10 weeks for the cabinetry to arrive. Everything arrived in perfect condition well packed and very clearly
marked. My contractor had no trouble installing it. The built in piece was very heavy and took a couple of guys
to slide it into place but it fit perfectly and looks beautiful. I am writing this overlong review because I had never
heard of this company and I am so happy I stumbled onto them. I was so happy to be able to custom design
something and not have to stick to the standard fare from Home Depot and Lowes.
I found everyone I dealt with in the company to be very accommodating and professional. I chose African mahogany
for everything and it is beautiful. They had a great selection of different woods.

"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Honolulu, HI

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
