"He was a pleasure to work with. Completely up front about cost v. expectations, so I always knew what I could have. There was constant communication throughout the project, so I never felt wanting for more information. And as far as quality, well I couldn't be more happy with the end result."

"Jim Johnson is an exceptional builder and honest businessman. You can tell he does this work because he loves it and genuinely wants his work to be the highest quality. He was referred to me by a co-worker with very high standards, and I am so grateful we were able to have his team do our addition and remodel. We have an older home and needed more space, so we added a bedroom above the garage and connected the new space to the existing home. We also remodeled most rooms, including a full kitchen expansion and remodel, new floors throughout, all new electrical wiring, HVAC, interior and exterior paint, plumbing upgrades (and moved a bathroom), and we added a front porch. There were problems along the way, which you'd expect with a project of this size, but Jim did his best to stay within the agreed-upon timeline. Every problem or decision was discussed in a transparent and collaborative way, and his suggestions saved us from future headaches. We now have a solid home that is well-designed and functional. From the big items such as the flow of a new room, down to the motion-detecting lights he suggested for our driveway...no detail is overlooked by Jim, Harvey, and the team. With Jim, you get a builder who is extremely knowledgeable, available, creative, trustworthy, and best of all, he does what he says he will do. It's not easy to find these qualities in a builder."

"This company has no working websites and you can?t get in contact with owner or management office. My house is incomplete and I read several other reviews like mind. All I was asking was to finish the job you started that I paid for first before expecting a payment on new job but haven?t finished the first couple of jobs that are finished. Asked them four month and still not finished. Have no problem with paying. This company doesn?t show up on job and when do break your things and don?t fixed them. I would like to sit down with owner and works this out but no response from project manager; he states he told them but no contact info. I?m trying to resolve without having to get an attorney but looks like that?s the road they want. I?m a Houston firefighter serving my community and this is the treatment I get from home medic restoration "

FAQs for addition to existing structure building service projects in Houston, TX

You can typically raise your roof by four to eight feet, depending on your home's structure and roof design. The exact amount depends on factors like roof slope and framing support. Raising the roof creates additional interior space, enhances natural light, and increases your home's value. Consult a professional to determine the feasible height increase for your home.

Yes, you need a building permit to raise your roof. Obtaining a building permit ensures your project complies with local building codes and safety regulations. A professional contractor can assist with the permit and inspection process and ensure all legal and safety requirements are met. Your contractor will be familiar with building codes in your area, which can differ between cities or states.

While it's possible to raise a flat roof, it requires extensive structural modifications. Flat roofs lack the attic space and support structures of pitched roofs, so raising them involves significant engineering to ensure safety and durability. This process can be complex and costly, so professional assessment is essential before undertaking a project of this magnitude.
