"My garage door would not close and was stuck open with both cables on either side of the door unspooled from the drum and essentially locking the door at 3ft open. I used Angi to look up nearby contractors and A1 came up. They contacted me very quickly and when I acknowledged I needed service, they were on site within the hour! The end result is that they repaired my issue so that I can use the door again. To get to that point - they walked me through what they planned to do. Midway through the repair, they did ask to meet with me to recommend fully replacing all bars, springs, cables and tracks (for about $1600-$1800), but I declined as I was not ready to make that large a decision and may want to change the garage door in the future. There was a bit of back and forth on whether they would tighten the springs which were insufficiently wound, but they did in the end. I would work with them again. I'd prefer full discussion on what they can do to finish the requested job first."

"Very well! I have an older door and bought a $99 Tune-up offer because it was loud and squeaky and not opening or closing very smoothly. I fully expected that I'd be told that the tune-up wouldn't be sufficient and that I'd need to buy something else and spend more money. Instead, Garage Door 4 Less showed up the next day right on time, and left less than an hour later with my garage door as good as new. He didn't try to upsell me on anything and told me everything looked good and I should just lubricate it occasionally. I highly recommend these guys!"

"It went great! The work is beautiful.  Joe matched the stone perfectly to the stone on my 1941 house.  They used some of the old undamaged stone to repair a spot on the front of the house where a stone was missing.  They also offered to put a stone on a portion of the original chimney that didn't have one (never did), but probably should have for best appearance. The stone mason chipped out a brick and set in the stone to match the pattern on other areas of the chimney.  It looks like it was there all along.   It all looks so nice.
Both the demolition crew and the masons were friendly.  There was no loud music, no foul language, nothing negative. They cleaned up each day, protected my plants, and even rolled up the garden hose when they were finished. They left things better than they found them.
Joe was easy to work with, and kept me informed of what the schedule would be. My project was during a rainy spell, so each day they had to make the determination on whether or not they could work, based on the weather.  Also, on the day the stone was to be put up, some of it cracked as it was being cut.  This put the project behind by one day, as they had to order more stone from the yard.  No problem...stuff happens.
I had been told by another company that my chimney required a stainless steel liner, in addition to the new cap to replace the crumbling stone at the top (a la $7000.00).  I told that to Joe, and he said that it was unlikely I needed a liner (as did 3 other companies I contacted, and one who inspected). Inspection revealed that no liner was needed.  Metro offers that service, so I was grateful that he didn't take advantage of the situation and say I should purchase a chimney liner.
I was very pleased with the project from start to finish.  I just found my new chimney sweep here as well!

"It was ok, but not without its headaches.  If I remember right, the Big Deal they had advertised was for $99 they would perform X number of hours of drywall/plaster repair (I don't remember the exact number), given that I provide the sheetrock.  Over the phone, I was told that a project of my size should be able to be completed within that time frame, so I went ahead and bought it.
The repairman arrived and began working, but told me that once the new sheetrock was in place, and the seams mudded, he would have to come back later after it had dried to sand it.  He then told me that a second trip charge would apply (something like another $50 + extra time).  I found this to be unacceptable, as there were no additional headaches or problems with our repair job, however any drywall/paster repair of any size would require drying time and a second trip for sanding.
I called the main office, and asked them if there would ever be a plaster repair job that didn't require a second trip, and was told that no, that would be impossible.  So my question was, why then would you advertise this service to cover any small plaster repair project knowing full well that a necessary second trip would not be included in the price.  I was fed a fair amount of lip service, but eventually they did drop the additional trip charge (only after a good deal of haggling).
The job was done to a satisfactory level, but the logistics and runaround were a headache.  And, I began receiving phonecalls on a frequent basis asking if I needed any other handyman services which I found to be quite annoying.  I did eventually get them to take me off their calling list.

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Howard Lake, MN

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
