"Andy, the certified plumber from Henson Mechanical HVAC & plumbing, was very punctual. I was told to expect a plumber between 8 am until noon, and Andy came at 9:30 am. He was very friendly and got right to work installing a new 40 gallon water heater. The job only took him about two hours. After he completed the work, he showed me how to re-light the pilot light if it ever goes out and explained what he replaced. He also, free of charge, helped me remove an old cartridge from the shower in my master bathroom since my shower had been dripping. I had already bought the new cartridge at a big box store, and he was happy to install it for me. There were no other "catches" to the deal for the new water heater I bought through Angie's List, for which I was very glad. "Our house was built in 1985 and we purchased in 2010. The company which inspected the house prior to our purchase noted a "swale" in the deck flooring, but due to a substantial overgrowth of grass, did not discover that many of the deck support beams were rotted off at ground level. In fact, the deck was unsafe, but this was not discovered until examination by TDE. Before work could begin, TDE built temporary supports to hold the deck in place while repairs were completed. The existing support beams were cedar, so TDE opted to cut off the rotten bottoms of these beams, enclosed the beam bottoms in a concrete "box" to a height of about 20 inches and then finished the exterior of these concrete boxes with brick that matched a nearby retaining wall. TDE also added additional cedar support beams under the deck which eliminated the "swale" in the deck flooring. Now when you look at the underside of the deck, you'd think the support beams were originally built that way as they look very nice. <br /> After examining the roof supports for the screened-in porch, TDE determined that many of the original 2x4s placed at short intervals for screen attachment were unnecessary for support of the roof. Consequently, we were able to remove most of the existing 2x4s and this uncluttered the porch in regard to our exterior view through the new screening. This "opened up" the porch such that it looks larger and receives more natural light. The aluminum supports/railings with a white baked enamel finish look fantastic and are easy to clean. Since this remodel, the screened-in porch has turned out to be one of our favorite "rooms" in the house. <br /> The previous owners had not maintained the exterior cedar planking of the house. Consequently, there was rotten wood as well as carpenter bee damage. Due to the porous nature of the weathered exterior, TDE recommended that we use a latex paint rather than a stain to seal the cedar planking. This turned out to be a great recommendation as the house was and is now the same dark gray color and you really can't tell any difference in appearance. TDE used sprayers to apply the paint and did a fantastic job. All downspouts and decorative porch lights were removed prior to painting and then replaced in their respective positions. Also, there was no "overspray" of paint on windows or porches. <br /> I highly recommend TDE Construction and Painting. They will not be the lowest bidder, but their professionalism and quality of work is exceptional. <br />"
