After working on the unit for about an hour he determined that the unit had died and there was no hope reviving it - it was 14 years old after all. "The heater had been improperly installed by another company - NOT Worley and Obetz.  We have had W&O maintain the heater  for about 8 years, and they never alerted us to the problems with inadequate ventilation and covered air intakes, which led to overheating and melting of interior parts in the heater.  They replaced these parts last January, but still never told us there was inadequate ventilation in the heater room.  Now that we have a new company maintaining the equipment, we find that the heat exchanger is cracked, explaining the oil smell in the building (It's a church).  Since the heater hasn't been used since last winter, it was probably cracked last winter when the other parts melted and were repaired by W&O.  We aren't happy that there was no warning by the company doing the regular maintenance that the heater was not ventilated or installed properly.  They also failed to deliver oil once last year, and we needed an emergency delivery.  We've changed companies.
