"I have a contract with them as well. They come out in the fall; they come out in the spring. Again, it's from the contract, so included in the contract is a free fall inspection a free spring inspection. We pay, I think we pay $750 a year because we have four HVAC units, so it's based on how many units you have. Again, I had a prior contract with a different company, and they were charging us over $2,000 for exactly the same thing. They come out where one person can do four units in a couple of hours, whereas the previous company I used, they'd send two technicians out and they'd take half a day to do the same thing. The other company always found something wrong, and you know charge us for stuff. Climatic comes out, does their thing and doesn't try to sell us unnecessary stuff, and I've been very happy with them. They're professional, very clean. They're in the house; they're out of the house, don't leave a mess. They're very knowledgeable, and they don't try to sell me stuff I don't need. My first impression was very good and like I said they're very professional, very polite. They're professional overall."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Knoxville, MD

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
