"The job took much much longer than I anticipated - so I would recommend agreeing on a completion date when you hire him. Work was eventually done well, however communication was poor. Instead of asking me how I wanted things done, James took it upon himself to make the decisions and design/construction choices without talking to me. This resulted in him having to redo pieces of the hutch several times. We hired him specifically for his expertise, and while the work was done well- we were expecting more. It seemed as if he was juggling a lot and we didn't feel that our job and the way this piece turned out was important to him. He is a very nice guy, and if you hire him I would just recommend being very clear from the beginning on what you exactly need done and how you expect it to be done.
