Small jobs welcome

"I highly recommend Fabiano's Construction. Our experience with him was fantastic from beginning to end. The project was to restore and replace the exterior window frames of our 1830 Trinity. The previous owners had installed new windows on the inside but left the old ones outside for beauty. Many of these old windows were completely rotten at the bottom, barely holding the small panes of glass together. We got three estimates. One builder wanted to replace the old windows with a second set of new ones. Another was going to patch them up with wood filler. Fabiano was the only one who was willing to actually restore them, using green wood for the parts that were beyond salvaging. It was precision carpentry work requiring problem-solving ingenuity. The new frames and sills are green wood plus Azek (PVC), so they should last forever. Although more major restoration was necessary than foreseen, Fabiano and his crew—his son Will and assistant Simon—still finished the job in the predicted time. They were careful, focused, hard-working, and also really nice, honest people. It was a pleasure to meet them, and the result is a stunning improvement to our house both inside and out. Fabiano is responsive and friendly, an expert who takes pride in his work. Incredibly, his price was the lowest the three. We plan to hire him for another project."

"It went very well. Used LHI based on a recomendation of a co-worker. They did a terrific job remodelling our guest bathroom, replacing tge drywall in basement and installing new trim in it. They also painted several other rooms. Great experience. Very professional, punctual, reasonably priced contractors."

"Juan responded quickly to my email and came out about a week later to measure for a quote.  He sent me a quote by email later the same day.  Because I was doing all the demo, framing, plumbing, electrical, and insulation myself, I ran behind schedule and was not ready for Juan's team on the date we had arranged.  I contacted Juan about a week out and asked if he could reschedule.  Juan readily agreed and was very accommodating.
Juan's team arrived on the date and time arranged and had the materials in the house and were already working by the time I showed up on my way to work.  The crew hung all the drywall on a Friday and Saturday.  His finish guy arrived on the following Tuesday and worked every day until the job was done at the end of the week.  All told the job took eight days.  The crew was professional and cleaned up after themselves.  They removed all scraps and debris and did not leave any trash behind inside or outside the house.  They were friendly and courteous and answered all the questions I asked.
There were two minor issues with how the drywall had been hung that I contacted Juan to fix before the seams were taped.  Juan responded right away and came out personally to fix them.  The finished job looks great.  Before I primed I dusted all surfaces and vacuumed, but otherwise everything was ready to go.  I was able to get a great discount on Sherwin-Williams paint on Juan's recommendation, saved a bundle.
It was a pleasure working with Juan and his team.  I contacted Juan based on his stellar reputation on Angie's List and was very happy with the decision.  I highly recommend this company.

"After purchasing our home mid summer last year we decided to freshen up the exterior of the house.  The former owners seemed to have neglected the house for a few years as the siding was extremely dirty and the painted shutters were badly faded.  After reading some reviews, I sent A Finishing Touch Painting and Power Washing an email through Angie's list.  Within a few hours Matt (the owner) contacted me and we set a time to meet.  Matt arrived early for the appointment and we walked around the house detailing the job.  At the end of the meeting he provided me with an estimate for powerwashing (house and paver walkways) and the sanding, priming and painting of our double entry doors, 9 sets of shutters and front porch.   The weather was an issue for a week and a half but the work was fully completed within a few weeks of our intial meeting.  Between the powerwashing and the great paint job, Matt was like a miracle worker as the house looks almost completely different.  We will definitely use A Finishing Touch for future projects.

"The job went well and the house looks beautiful. The only minor glitch was that they broke the globe on our exterior porch light - a model that is discontinued and could not be easily replaced, and was a match for the one on the side porch. We were fairly compensated with no problem."

"They really are not that good because the work they did started to deteriorate quickly after they did it. They came back and resolved the problem but they also did additional work; they really are not the best painters. The price was very reasonable and they also did some exterior painting for me as well. The interior painting was not as professional as I thought it could have been but they were quick to respond to my needs. They were punctual."

"Let me start by saying that my husband is the one who did the walk-through estimate with Joe. I wasn't there and I can't verify that my husband explained exactly what we were looking for. But I was under the impression that the wallpaper would be sealed and the walls repaired so that when they were painted over, you wouldn't be able to tell there was wallpaper in the first place. We got an estimate from another company and they were planning on skimming the walls several times to create the smooth surface. I was under the impression that this was what Joe and his guys were doing, too.
I was wrong.
When the office was completed you could see the stripes where the pieces of wallpaper met. I was very unhappy with this and told Joe. To his credit, he immediately offered to fix the walls. His guys skimmed over the seams and repainted. The result, though was that now there are bands of a different texture, so it's still noticeable.
If you're not looking too closely, the rooms look great. But when you pay attention to the details, you see things like where the guys painted over chips in the window sill, instead of sanding them out or filling them or whatever. There's a very noticeable wallpaper seam in the bedroom. Some of the edging is uneven. When they cleaned on the final day, the guys left drips of charcoal paint on the bathroom threshold. These are things I expect when WE paint our house, not when we pay someone a big ol' chunk of money to paint it.
That said, I would work with this company again. The paint crew guys were super professional and polite. We couldn't be there every day and we felt secure leaving them in our house. One of the guys even walked our dog one day because he was antsy. That goes above and beyond. We tipped them well.
Joe installed the molding himself, and he did a beautiful job. We had the ceiling painted charcoal and brought the color down about five inches on the wall. Then there's the molding, and then the lavender color we used on the walls. It's really quite stunning.
I'd love to give the company an A, but I do feel like there was some attention to detail lacking. I will make sure that the next time I hire them or any other painter I have every little thing spelled out in the estimate, so there's no room for interpretation.

"When we first met with Lew Merryfield, our home was a disaster.  Smoke and intense heat had made it necessary to completely gut and restore our home.  It was a time of great despair and confusion.  Lew was very reassuring that his company would be able to handle to assignment and allow us to return to a home that was better than ever, and agreed to bid the job in the format requested.
After the contract was signed the Merryfield Construction Group was very active, and progress was made every week.  We opted to hire our own subcontractors for plumbing and HVAC, and an electrical contractor recommended by the provider.  The provider and their staff worked well with the other contractors and were communicative with us during the process.  A promise to never abandon working on our home for any significant period of time was kept.  Building options and recommendations were presented at appropriate times and were appreciated.  Lew and his brother George worked with us to solve problems that arose and we always felt like it was a partnership and that they took great pride in their work.  Additional work outside the original contract and work change orders were appropriate and reasonably priced.
The fire was one week before Christmas in 2013, and we were able to move back in late October 2014.  Although this time frame was slightly outside of the original estimate, it was not considered unreasonable given the nature of the work and the change orders. After we moved in, the provider has done a nice job on following up any problem areas and punch list items.
We are very happy with our "new" home and are confident that the provider will continue to stand behind the work.  The overall job turned out much better than we could have expected.  Lew and George Merryfield, and their staff, particularly Tom Ferry, Sean, and Scott, were always respectful and friendly, and took obvious pride in their crafts.  In conclusion, we are glad we selected Merryfield Construction Group and would not hesitate to use them again in the future or recommend them to others."

FAQs for exterior shutters installation and replacement projects in Lafayette Hill, PA

The best material for exterior shutters depends on your preferences. Natural wood offers a classic and timeless look but requires more maintenance. Vinyl, composite, and aluminum shutters provide low-maintenance options with modern styles. Consider your design goals and maintenance preferences to choose the material that ensures both beauty and durability.

Professional shutter installers handle the installation of exterior and interior shutters. They ensure precise fitting and secure mounting so your shutters function properly and enhance your home's curb appeal. Hiring an experienced professional guarantees your shutters are correctly aligned and built to withstand environmental conditions, providing long-lasting protection for your home.

Estate shutters cost an average of $2,990, with prices ranging from $300 to $8,400. Their total price varies based on size, material quality, and installation requirements. While they come with a higher price tag, estate shutters enhance your home's security and add a luxurious aesthetic to your house.

Exterior window shutters are worth the cost for many homeowners, offering aesthetic and functional benefits. They enhance your home's appearance, add security, improve energy efficiency, and protect against severe weather conditions. Investing in exterior shutters can increase your home's value, make it more attractive to future buyers, and provide long-term benefits.

Whether it's cheaper to buy new shutters or paint them depends on their condition. Painting shutters costs $200 to $500 on average and can refresh their appearance if they're in good shape. However, replacing your shutters may be more cost-effective in the long run if they are significantly worn or damaged.

Double-hung, casement, and slider windows are most suitable for exterior shutters, as they accommodate standard dimensions and allow for secure attachment. Unique window types like bay, dormer, and picture windows may not work well with functional shutters due to their shapes and incur higher labor costs due to the complexity of installation.
