"Kevin is a professional to be admired for his thoroughness. I live in NYC and needed Kevin to meet me at my vacation home in the Poconos at a specific date and time (I'm a 2 1/2 hour drive away). He arrived on time and quickly determined why my gas fireplace was inoperative. Unlike some plumbers who would then tell me that they needed to pick up a replacement part at a distant supply store and wouldn't be able to return until the next day, Kevin had a well-stocked inventory of parts in his van, including the precise replacement pilot assembly my fireplace needed. What a time-saver that turned out to be! Throughout the replacement process Kevin informed me what he was doing and why. His easy-going manner helped make the repair process "painless" and my fireplace hasn't worked this well in years. I would use Kevin Caparo again without hesitation for any future heating problems I might have and I heartily suggest you do too!"

"<p>M & M was great to work with from start to finish. I recommend them highly. They arrived to survey the job as scheduled within a day or two after I contacted them, and followed up a few days thereafter with a detailed three page estimate that was very competitive with other estimates. I was able to discuss the estimate over the phone in detail with the owner who answered all of my questions directly and completely. Subsequently, M & M completed the job in its entirety on time in one day at the price estimated. M & M conducted themselves in what I consider to be a highly professional manner. </p> <p>A few weeks after the job was completed a relative of mine that was in the heating and plumbing business before his retirement surveyed the completed work. He said that he found nothing amiss and that in his opinion the job was well done and without any corners cut. For instance, he was impressed by the piping design and how the joints were laid out and connected as if by someone that knew his craft well. He said he didn?t see any cheap foreign parts or anything else to detract from the quality of the work, noting that three capped connectors were already in place should I ever decide to hook up other devices such as a gas dryer, gas grill and gas fireplace. </p> <p>I initially contacted M & M in September, and instead of hurrying me along, they recommended waiting on the installation until after more of the valuable oil left in my tanks was drawn down. They then worked with me on the final timing of the installation until mid-December, and that saved me a lot of money. During the intervening time other questions came to my mind and I had the opportunity to speak several times with Carolyn who manages the office side of their business. She always returned my calls promptly or emailed back and addressed all of the issues I raised, and without minimizing any of my concerns. </p> <p>A month or so later, I had M&M back to do a small job on a radiator leak that over the years had been a problem. The owner and an assistant showed up on time and tried several ways to fix the problem without my having to buy a new part needed in the end. All in all, more of the same excellent service that I am expecting now to be able to rely on into the future.</p> <br />"

"Excellent service! Came the same day I called him to give us a quote. We thought his quote was a fair price. He came by later that week to perform the job and we thought he was very professional. One thing we could appreciate was that he was also clean with his work. We’ve worked with a lot of contractors and have come to appreciate that. More importantly we thought he did a great job rerouting a sewer release pipe that was improperly being vented into a closet in our basement. He rerouted it to outside. We have no complaints and would definitely use him again for other plumbing jobs in the future!"

"APS' proposal was competitively priced relative to the complex nature of the project. This was my first oil tank removal and remediation job, so I needed a contractor with solid experience in the field. Sal and Maria were always professional, knowledgeable, patient, and extremely responsive. No call or email from me went without a prompt reply. Little did I know that I would need their help, beyond completion of the work, to navigate the confusing process of getting appropriate documents and approvals from the NJ DEP. I was under a hard timeline to close the sale of my property. Without Sal and Maria's help, I would have been behind the proverbial 8 ball. Their guidance was invaluable. I recommend them without reservation."

"The roofing repair went well, and then I asked Mr. Evans to come to another city where I owned another home that we were remodeling and needed to sell soon. We needed some electrical ,and plumbing work done . I asked if he was licensed to do that. He replied that " he was". I inquired about city permits, and was told that "I did NOT need any- as this was a minor repair, not a complete rewiring job". Having dealt with the city before, I KNEW that was not right, as permits ARE required for ALL work done by contractors in the city. I then asked him if he was registered with our state. He replied that he was. I checked online, and found nothing under the company name of American Contracting. I DID find his name under another company name- J.E. Improvements. However, this registration did NOT list electrical, or plumbing. When I told him what I had learned- he said that he would simply call the state and ask them to add the two categories to his listing ! I was amazed that they would do such a thing over the phone, and called them myself. I was told that "anyone who is registered can call and add anything without submitting any proof of additional licenses". They told me I needed to check with my local city for licensing. I called the Scranton office of licensing and permits, and was told that " Mr. Evans is NOT licensed as either a plumber or electrican in Scranton". He had also told me that he installs and maintains furnaces and heating systems. He is not licensed to do that either in Scranton. He CAN do roofing and siding as that only requires a contractor to pull a permit, and he can get one since he is already registered with the state of PA. There were a couple other things that bothered me. First, he kept saying that he "preferred to be left alone when he worked" and that "we could just leave a key to the house and did not need to be there while the work was being done". Also, I had asked for estimates on painting and a new roof and possibly siding and was told that he "did not write estimates until the customer agreed verbally to a price, because it was a waste of time because some people didn't call him back". Upon checking, I found that he registered his company name as J.E. Improvements with the state on 7/23/2009, yet he did a job for someone on Angie's list in SEPT. 2009 under the name American Contracting. Under Pa. law , doing jobs under two or more company names MUST be reported to the state. I asked the state if they had any listing for American Contracting- they said "NO". Bottom line is this : Mr. Evans is a nice man, did a good job on our roof repair, but if you want him to work in Scranton, be aware that he is NOT licensed for electrical, plumbing or heating, and can NOT pull permits for that work. He CAN do roofing, siding and painting as I am told. permits can be obtained for those jobs as long as he can show his PA registration card and current insurance of $50,000 or more."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Lake Ariel, PA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
