"Highly recommend this company. They responded quickly to my inquiry and were very professional in their presentation. Justin went above and beyond in installation of the sump pump which I purchased from him. He found a few things which needed to be corrected and he corrected them. Very much appreciated his efforts to make things safer and more efficient for me. If further water proofing is necessary Liebenow Waterproofing would be the first company I would call."

"Ramon, Johnny and Tyrus did a very good job installing drain tile and sump pump in our basement. They were very friendly and communicated very well throughout the project. They left the worksite very clean when they left. Would not hesitate to use them again."

"We paid for the sink and clinical water. I'm still in the process of installing it. The only thing wrong with this water softener, I don't think the instructions are clear. This was three or four weeks ago. I would use them again in the future."

"We had multiple small drain problems that had accumulated over the years and added up to an increasingly large problem. The technician showed us how he figured it out and what he recommended be done about the problems. He presented the cost up front and we agreed to have the work done. About the only thing that didn't go perfectly was that he needed an extra half hour above his estimate to finish the work. We were not charged for the time."

"The only complaint I have is that they did not have a drain cap for my boiler. A part they should have had. The technician told me I could find a drain cap at any hardware store.. I went to a hardware store and screwed the part on myself.."

"Dave replaced a sump pump for us. He called ahead to let me know he was on the way. He showed up on time, had the right replacement pump, and did the work quickly. He was personable and his rates were reasonable (as plumbers go)."

Vincent partially installed the faucet and soap dispenser set but when putting in the soap dispenser he mounted it so it was crooked after trying to adjust the soap dispenser myself and making a number of trips to Home Depot to remedy the situation I called and spoke with Vincent he agreed to come back out and scheduled a time with me but he didn't come back or call to reschedule.

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Lake Elmo, MN

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
