We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted our kitchen and dining area to look like, but were unsure if it was going to be possible and what materials should be used. Mr. Everett listened closely to what we wanted and delivered in every aspect. He was able to rearrange our kitchen so that the flow is much better and provide us with custom built-in shelves and bench. He not only pointed us in the right direction for the big things like counter-tops, but also for the backsplash, drawer pulls, and lighting fixtures. If I ever had a question or concern about anything, I would text Mr. Everett and he would always get back to me very quickly, even on the weekends or at night. He was also very quick to come to the house if anything was ever needed. I have not experienced such great customer service with any other company. The materials used for our new kitchen are beautiful, and I feel that we had everything done for a very fair price. "Devin Nasvaderani and his crew at Marvel Homes transformed a 1950s-era galley kitchen into an inviting and open kitchen/dining room. The project had many parts and space was limited, but it was finished on time and on budget thanks to the crew's competence, creativity and attention to detail. Devin managed to conceal a waste water pipe against a wall with some judicious cutting of a cabinet and tweaking of the tile back splash, he turned a living room closet on the other side of a kitchen wall into a pantry, and rerouted air vents that had  been inside the wall that separated the kitchen from the dining room. He worked with vendors including Cabinet Discounters, ABW appliances, Mosaic Tile and ABKA Marble & Granite to ensure the project stayed on track. And he dealt swiftly with glitches, replacing a dinged sink and a scratched drawer front.. A job well done."

"I have used JW Home Improvement in the past and contacted them for an exterior painting/repair project. Josh, the estimator, was on time, walked through some issues he found with my exterior (wood rot and replacement of siding on the outside of my gas fireplace due to weed wacker damage, and leak in same area) in addition to the painting. I had a two-person team (Thomas and Matthew) for two days to complete the work. They did a fantastic job: kept me updated with any changes needed to complete the work, were always punctual, friendly, and professional; and cleaned up the area after completion. During this time of social distancing and trying to stay safe with COVID-19, everyone I dealt with in person (Josh, Thomas, and Matthew) went up and above to ensure they did what was necessary to maintain everyone's safety and completing the work very professionally. I will remain a very happy repeat customer and have already referred them to my NextDoor App community when someone was looking for a contractor to do exterior painting."

"We have used The North Star Companies for several jobs in the past, with the most recent being the largest. We hired them do a complete renovation of our home in Severn. The job grew larger as demo began and turned into a job requiring the rebuild of exterior walls, demo of concrete slabs - basically the house had to be rebuilt from the ground up. All new plumbing, electric, framing, windows, siding, roof, etc. I have known Chris for 20+ years and was confident that our forever home would be solid and done right. We had a few hiccups throughout the process - as this was done during Covid, so there were supply issues, delays and so forth, but Chris and his guys did an amazing job. We couldn't be happier and are continuously getting compliments on our beautiful home. Chris has been and will continue to be our go-to for any construction needs for us and our family and friends."

"I hired this contractor to level my basement floor, install a backup sump pump, and add a laundry sink. The basement looks better, but had significant problems. THE GOOD:The laundry sink and sump pump work properly alongside the existing drain. THE CONCERNS:The sump pump was initially installed incorrectly, removing the drain. I was told both couldn't fit due to equipment size. Only after speaking with the owner was a solution found.The floor leveling fell short. The self-leveler had grey and white patches. When I raised concerns, I was told this was normal and it doesn't come in colors,contradicting my research. Since I didn't discuss coloring upfront, I paid an additional $850 for epoxy paint. Even after painting, the floor remained uneven with noticeable depressions. The door was left unlocked with keys inside rather than in the lockbox. BOTTOM LINE:The basement is improved but not level as promised. Be very specific about expectations upfront and be prepared to push back on issues"
