"I requested higher toilets that flushed very well. Unfortunately, they trusted the vendor and the toilets installed did not flush well at all. I was hoping being plumbers that they would know the best flusher. After multiple phone calls (the reason for the C rating for responsiveness) they arranged for the vendor to supply new powerful flushers at a greatly reduced cost. They did not charge me for installation, however I could not get the money back for the two toilets already installed. I will turn them into a nice bench. They were very professional and showed up on time and worked with me to resolve the problem I was having with the first two toilets. I would hire them again."

"Horizon Mechanical demonstrated real professionalism. They came on time as scheduled (early in the promised window), and did the work quickly and efficiently. They also gave advice for the next steps in the preservation and restoration process, as we had suffered a great deal of water damage before we discovered that the pipes were broken. We were greatly relieved to have our water back!"

"I have had a lot of work done in my home. Andy has been the very best contractor that I have ever used.
Andy gave me an estimate and before work was begun, he gave me a contract that stated the various stages of the work to be done, when I would make payments and the amount of each payment. The contract was very professional and gave me a timeline for his work and payment schedule with which I felt comfortable. When work began, I could count on Andy and his workers to be on time every day and to let me know if there were any changes. I was impressed that Andy was with his workers at all times to supervise and to consult with me about how the work was going and help suggest possible changes. All his work met the codes and every time inspectors came to see if the codes were met, Andy's work passed the first inspection.
Andy took time to make sure that he understood how the "man cave" would be used. He constructed shelving not only to fit the size of my son's comic book boxes but to be strong enough to hold the weight. We chose the paints and tile together so that the rooms he did reflect who my son and I are. I wanted a garden window in my laundry room so where the garage door had been there now is an outside door and my special garden window. In replacing the garage door with the new wall, Andy matched the outside house paint exactly with the existing house paint. The garage now is better insulated than the rest of my house. The skylights he installed light up the room so that only at night is any electric light needed. The remote control heating and cooling system specific to that room functions beautifully. The pocket door that Andy suggested between the laundry room and the "man cave" is an excellent idea and gives my son and me our special areas. My son's bathroom has been wonderfully transformed with addition of a tile floor and tile on the walls. The room is not only beautiful but so easy to take care of.
My son, Andy and I went shopping together to choose the materials and colors. It was such a pleasure to work with Andy and his crew and his dog, Diva. Andy was recommended to me by my friends who were so pleased with his work and I have recommended him to other friends who have been equally impressed and pleased. Andy also guarantees his work. I had a problem with a door sticking. He came to fix it the next day. I highly recommend Andy Construction, Inc."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Las Cruces, NM

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
