"Jon was adamant about making sure that we were involved with every decision and every detail before and during the project. He was very reliable and worked long hours to ensure that the job was finished in just 3 days, and we are very pleased with the end result! I highly recommend this company for any wall project, large or small."

"They are getting better. Their prices keep going up every year. They should say when they are gong to show up, sometimes they'd show up and not call. Sometimes we ask them not to go through the fallow beds or the mulch or the landscaping life, if its the regular guy, he's very careful with that, if its not the regular guy, he just wants to get in and get out more quickly. It doesn't matter if he messes anything up so maybe if they'd be a bit better with that, it would be good."

"Ed and his team at EZ landscaping did an amazing job with the hardscaping / landscaping jobs I had around my property. They were on time or early to work everyday, and called or texted regularly to make sure we were on the same page regarding small details that ended up being important. Pricing was fair and worth every penny. Looking forward to dealing with them again."

"The entire Stoehr team was so professional, kind, and hardworking - I would without question hire them again for any landscaping needs or special projects. They totally transformed my backyard to my dream garden oasis in less than two days, and the pricing for the work completed was very fair. I reached out to 10+ landscaping companies to bid on this project & Stoehr's was absolutely the right choice. Don't hesitate to reach out to them for any outdoor projects you have in mind!"

"We built a beautiful 3 stall 1.5 story detached garage but held off on installing a driveway for sometime. When we only had a gravel drive, our garage would flood during any significant rainfall as the ground slopes toward the garage.  To solve this issue, in addition to proper grading and sloping of the concrete, Mike and his crew installed a trench drain with heavy metal grates outside each stall.  This solved all of our water issues!  The driveway is beautiful and he even took care to make the concrete thicker near the road to accommodate the garbage truck that occasionally pulls onto the driveway a bit to pick up our trash.  The project was completed in a professional and timely manner.  I'm especially particular about cleanliness and the crew was great about cleaning up after themselves.   Everyone involved was pleasant to deal with.  Mike is great about answering questions and explaining things.  He even offered solutions for keeping leaves from clogging my drains! It was great to have a solid driveway to make snow removal easier this winter, and despite the crazy weather we had, the driveway still looks great.  We will not hesitate to call on Westmoreland Concrete Construction for any additional projects.

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Latrobe, PA

Most shed foundations benefit from a gravel layer four to six inches deep after proper compaction. The exact depth may vary depending on your specific soil conditions, climate, and shed weight. In areas with poor drainage or for heavier structures, contractors might recommend slightly deeper installations. Building the pad in multiple compacted layers rather than a single thick pour helps achieve optimal stability and load distribution.

Gravel pads cost significantly less than concrete foundations. While gravel materials run about $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, concrete slabs average $6 per square foot. For a standard shed base, this price difference translates to substantial savings. Beyond the initial cost advantage, gravel pads also offer easier installation, simpler modifications if needed, and don't require specialized concrete finishing skills.

For a standard 10-by-12 shed pad, you'll need enough gravel to cover 120 square feet at the recommended depth. At rates of $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, expect to spend $150 to $216 on gravel materials alone. Remember to factor in extending the pad beyond the shed's dimensions by one to two feet on each side for better drainage and stability, which increases the actual area needed.

The ideal gravel for shed foundations combines stability with proper drainage capabilities. Crusher run ($0.40 per square foot) makes an excellent base layer because it contains various particle sizes that lock together when compacted. For top layers, angular gravel provides better drainage while maintaining stability. Avoid perfectly round decorative stones as they don't compact effectively and may shift under weight, compromising your shed's stability over time.
