"We hired Magic Landscaping, Marvin McCoy and his crew. Which did an amazing job giving us the marvelous gravel driveway. That we really wanted. Marvin was patient with us he was kind, friendly, and showed us what we could do. To achieve the look we wanted. It was excellent work and I was going to take pictures but it's dark outside. Magic landscaping is the way to go if you want excellent at Landscaping whatever the job is. Very good, a fine job. It was like 3-4 hours. We loved our gravel driveway. "

"We had a large and complicated project that involved the installation of drains and retaining walls. The lawn also needed to be regraded before sod could be installed. Finally, new landscaping was added to hide an ugly septic system that was the dominate feature of our front yard. Jason and the Wallis team were a pleasure to work with. The work was completed on time and on budget and most importantly is of the highest quality. Our yard was an eyesore-now it is beautiful. We are already lining up our next project with Wallis and would highly recommend this company."

"This was the second time this year that we had work done by Peter Frazier. Earlier this year, he repaired a brick walkway which was missing much of the mortar. They did an excellent job repairing the walkway and matching the old mortar. In early fall we had some masonry repair and an old cracked concrete slab removed and had Peter pour a new concrete slab. Again, Peter and his team did an excellent job at a reasonable price. <br />"

"P.K. Masonry arrived at my home on three different days on time, ready and willing to start the work. I was impressed how carefully he measured and drew out the plans for the fireplace. On my fireplace install PK was always concerned with what I was asking for, and listened to what I had to say. We didn't always agree, but he showed great patience dealing with me who knows nothing about what it takes to build a fireplace. I love my new fireplace that he built and will enjoy owning it for years to come. I definitely would hire PK again and have a job for him, planned for the future."

Milton's Pool Plaster

"Milton personally worked with us to ensure that the materials and workmanship were on par with several other more-expensive quotes from larger commercial-residential pool plaster and deck contractors, several of whom either would not quote the deck job, or told us that they work with another sub or referral partner. Milton also honored his three-year-old quote, and insisted on not rebidding the job at revised rates. <br /> Milton's crew was very patient in waiting for the right weather conditions to perform each stage of the job in the proper sequence, and to allow adequate time between these stages for drying, curing, etc... The results met and exceeded our expectations. Our pool and deck essentially look brand new, and the upgrade to the pebble finish not only looks better than the previous white plaster finish, it's also easier to maintain. <br /> We have a salt chlorinated pool, and the job was completed following the end of the swim season (October), so Milton's advice of maintaining the PH and Chlorine chemically (we used extra-strength Clorox and Arm and Hammer Baking soda from Costco and Muratic Acid from Home Depot) while the plaster cured over the winter provided us with an economical and successful result. The salt chlorination reaction process diminishes as the water temperature cools in the fall, so it made no sense load up the salt and run the cell over the winter anyway. Following online advice from pool forums, we only brushed the finish regularly during the first month or so to ensure a smooth pebble/plaster surface as the plaster cured. The other key to a solid cure, as emphasized by Milton, is to maintain the PH below 8.0 at all times. <br /> Now that the swim season has begun, we've added the salt and reactivated the salt cell and our Kreepy Cruiser pool cleaner. Due to the professional rounding around the steps, the Kreepy no longer gets stuck there, and even when the Kreepy gets clogged and stays in one place for hours, it leaves no ring of loosened plaster or pebbles in those locations. I've seen plenty of pictures online of other pebbled pools that didn't cure properly, and left very prominent rings where the pool cleaners were stuck. <br /> We consider ourselves to be fairly demanding and vigilant consumers, and would be quick to point out any deficiencies  in materials or workmanship, or any lack of professionalism in the delivery or terms of services. We experienced none of these issues with Milton's Pool Plaster, and stand ready to serve as solid reference. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Lawrenceville, GA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
