"We got lots of estimates to install an irrigation system and landscape lighting. When I met with Joe he was not interested in selling me equipment but spent the time going over what we actually needed....especially for landscape lighting. His approach was great, he came up with a solution for our watering needs and a simple version for the landscape lighting since we weren't sure how much light we wanted.....Once we see it, if we want more highlighting it could easily be added.....which we did on 2 other occasions. His workers too great care of my property and when they had a question about location of sprinkler head they came and discussed it with me before moving forward. One of the best contractor experiences we have had. Almost forgot...we have a collection area where all the underground pipes disperse water from our gutters. That was always full of water when Joe mentioned that the pip wasn't done correctly....since he had the equipment and the machinery already on the property he took care of that for me. Even with this wet spring we have not seen any signs of water from the collection area overflowing. I've already referred them to many neighbors since everyone loves the landscape lighting."

"I was very happy with the solution Alden came up with. I had spoken to another landscaping company and an engineer, and their solutions were not feasible. Alden's solution was both reasonable to carry out and effective. His solution had three parts: adding soil to change the grade so that water would run away from the house, adding an exterior drain pipe to catch the water and deposit it downhill from my house, and removing a brick flowerbed that was trapping the water so that it would not flow away from my house. The drain pipe was installed at ground level and just empties out onto the hill beneath my house. This was so simple I am surprised this did not occur either to me or anyone else. (I did not mind losing the flowerbed since I am not a gardener and honestly it just added another chore I was glad to be rid of.) Alden also noticed that my outdoor AC unit was about to topple over and added soil to level out the ground beneath the pad on which the AC rested. In general, I found Alden to be experienced in rain and groundwater management, creative in coming up with solutions, professional, and easygoing. His workers were nice and worked efficiently. And I am convinced that this is the best way for most homeowners to effectively waterproof their basement -- using soil grading and ground-level drain pipes to keep rainwater running along the ground away from the house; I think this is more effective and less intrusive than interior water proofing, and that the common method you see of digging to the foot of the foundation and installing the drain pipe there, then backfilling with gravel is unnecessary unless the water problem is that it is actually coming up from below ground rather than that it is running along the ground toward the house."

"<p>The booking was easy and the tech was on time. He did what I was expecting, to open the system up. However, while a number of the heads were not turning and would need to replaced, he provided me and my wife with an estimate for $700 to replace 7 total heads!! He said, because we have well water, they'd recommend using heads that include steel, so they are $65 each, plus he added $15 to "lower" the heads based on newer standards with sprinklers. This was way more than I wanted to spend and also $400+ more than an estimate I then received from another company to do the same work using sprinklers of the same quality but not replacing all 7, instead replacing just 4. The cost per sprinkler head was more in the $35-$40 range. </p> <p>I'm sure Royal irrigation knows what they are doing as far as sprinklers, and I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the second estimate has me thinking that they are overpriced.
