"Jim's company finished our basement with great detail and care.  The fit and finish of the project was stellar.  So much so that we have used them many more times. <br /> <br /> We did have a small issue with water drainage in the basement, but they were quick to resolve the issue with no money out of pocket. <br /> <br /> I highly recommed Jim Saner's remodeling if you are looking for a dependable, quality contractor."

"My garage/basement wall had water intrusion and cracks. Frank Sullivan came out and provided me with available options and estimates for each solution. I chose to have I-beams installed to the floor joists and seal the cracks. The work was explained before hand and I knew what to expect. The work crew finished in under 4 hours and now I have peace of mind about the support for my home and dry basement for years to come thanks to the warranty. The work crew was excellent."

"Lamonte painting did a fabulous job painting 3 rooms, a bathroom and a closet for me. Everything looked wonderful. No drips, or smears on the ceiling or in any furniture carpet or anything. I will definitely use them again and the price was also awesome!"

"I was very happy with Craig's work, he was on time both for the estimate and for the job itself. He did the work quickly and I am very happy with the results. Additionally, while I knew that I wanted to change from the plastic to improve the durability of the roof, I wasn't sure what material would be best. Craig talked me through the options and was even willing to go take pictures and send them to me as the location he was getting it from was far away from me."

"The estimate process went great, we've really been impressed with the sales folks they send out. He was very flexible about timing, and spent quite a bit of time preparing the documents. We ultimately did not hire Drybasement to remodel the basement because the estimate was considerably more (to the tune of about $52K), including creating an egress window somewhere along the foundation - an expense we did not take into account. While we did not choose to move ahead with Drybasement on this project, we do still have our sump pump serviced by them and would not hesitate to recommend them to others."

"In my head I had this beautiful design in mind for an amazing piece of furniture that would house my washer and dryer but not look like a laundry room since it was in a main room in my home that you have to pass through to get to the kitchen. Eliot worked with me to create a product that surpassed my expectations. He was able to see my inspiration and understand my goal to tie this into the rest of the design in my home. I have a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture now that no one else will ever have. I'm very happy!!!!!!"

"I am a little late in doing this review, but that only has served to enhance my appreciation for the fantastic job that Brandon Smith and his remarkable crew (Chris, Shane and Jeff) accomplished! No detail was missed (and many that were unnoticed initially), incredible collaboration and suggestions, obvious care and craftsmanship was exhibited with all aspects and stages of construction. Brandon beautifully finished my basement last year, so i knew immediately who would complete the remodel/restoration of my home this year."

"We have used Steve Olson to remodel and repair our home on several occasions over the last few years. He always gives us a good price and sticks to the original estimate. He works quickly and has it done in a reasonable time-frame. He has kept the construction area neat and cleans up after himself. We have been very happy with his suggestions and attention to detail with everything he has done for us. It's great to have someone we can trust to do a good job at a good price."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Lexington, MO

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
