We have used ASTAR for many years to service our central air.  On June 30th we had a bad thunderstorm that sent a power surge through our home and fried our central air, whole house fan and some other outlets.  ASTAR came and we were originally told that it would be approx. 3-4 weeks and take 2 days to install the new system because they were all booked up. We were ok with that since the weather for the next couple of weeks was going to be in the high 70's. 

The following week the weather changed and it was going to be warmer.  Knowing we had no central air ASTAR dropped off at our home, 2 brand new window air conditioners! WOW!  They would have dropped off as many as we wanted but really only needed them for 2 of the bedrooms. Don't know of any other company that would have done that!  Now the following week (7/13) we had totally forgot the we had relatives from out of state coming to spend a week with us (7/22-7/29) and the weather was going to be brutally hot!  We called ASTAR and explained our situation and are happy to report that they came on Saturday, July 18th and did the entire installation in one day!  They put an extra guy on so they could get the job done!  It has been over a month now of hot and humid weather and the system has been on since they installed it! We have noticed that this new system does a better job at keeping the house cool then the old one which was only 10yrs old.  We highly recommend this company and will continue to use them for our preventive maintenance.  We would have given them a rating of A++ if it was offered!

"When I was looking for a new high efficiency furnace, I received several quotes and Sure Temp was almost $800 cheaper than any other Carrier dealer. They were on time and did a neat and effective job of installing the furnace. They made sure that everything was clean and all of the paperwork was simple. One was related to a minor issue related to installation that appeared during the winter and was quickly dealt with and three calls were related to an issue outside of their control that was tricky to resolve. "Unfortunately not good. I had to put in a service call on three different occasions for the same appliance. Once in July, then again in August and in October. Each time I had to pay the service fee of $75.00. If it was repaired properly I would not have to continually call for repairs. However I do feel that this problem falls on the company that was contracted not Choice Home Warranty!"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
