"Phil was excellent! We are first time home buyers. We hired him for general inspection and oil tank sweep. He arrived on time and was pleasant to deal with. He was through, precise and took his time to explain all the things that needed immediate repairs and that were hazardous in the house. He did not rush through the inspection and tested all the electrical and plumbing, attic, boiler etc. He even checked the shingles on the roof and questioned the seller as to why they were different colors. Also, he advised us to check that the sellers had all proper permits for the renovations done on the house, which we did not know we had to do. Phil sent us a very detailed report within 2 days with digital photos showing all the repair work needed to be done on the house. He helped us by providing honest feedback despite the seller being present at inspection. In short, he saved us from buying a home with major repairs. He also honored the Angie's list coupon. We are very glad that we hired him and will definitely use him again. We highly recommend him!"

"Jim performed a buyer's inspection for us and did a wonderful job.  He was thorough in his inspection and took the time to explain things to us along the way answering any questions we had.  Jim is not an alarmist, which helped tremendously because as first time home buyers, we were very nervous.  Jim does the inspection and radon, and had arranged a wood destroying insect inspection for us with Termite, Inc. Tom Ginefra performed the inspection and he was great as well.  We received reports from Jim and Tom the following morning after the inspection.
Unfortunately we are not moving forward with the home purchase, but we will definitely contact Jim for any future inspections.

"

it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related.

I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.

Really highly recommend them!

"By describing my basement, I was able to get an estimate over the phone. I have a partial basement with a crawlspace requiring 2 suction points. The estimate was very easy to understand in that there were no extra costs for permits, sealing parts of the french drain, electrical work and whatever else was needed to get my radon levels below the acceptable limit. Other estimates I have gotten had these items and more as add-ons. This made the Soos Radon and Electric estimate very competitive. The crew arrived right on time. Before starting, we were given an explanation of all that would be done. They sealed my sump pit, about 30 feet of my french drain, drilled for 2 suction points and installed a pipe to the outside and above the roofline with a fan to draw out the radon. The crew was clean, polite, knowledgeable and completed the work in a timely manner. One thing worth mentioning is that the crew included a licensed electrician. Everything looked very neat and clean. After the job, we were given a walkthrough of the entire system and given very clear instructions on how to set up the required "after" radon test. As expected, we passed. But if we didn't pass, Soos would have come back and taken additional measures at no additional cost. We were also told to make an appointment with the township for an inspection (not yet done as of when writing this review). I'm sure we will pass the inspection also."

"Mark was readily available to meet up with us and perform an inspection and radon testing on potential first home at an affordable cost. As first time homeowners, Mark graciously prepared us that there are always issues with a home that are found during inspection, but not to worry and was there to explain everything to us along the way— before, during, and after his thorough inspection."

"After a home inspection I was told that I needed to
remediate a ?black substance? aka mold from the roof of my attic crawl space.
The black stain covered most of the plywood and some rafters. I was told it was
probably due to poor ventilation.
I had less than two months to remediate before closing. This
was a first for me so knowing where to begin and who to call was the most
difficult decision to make. Not many people talk about mold in their home so
finding a contractor was going to be a challenge.
I went right to Angieslist and started looking and I came
across Enzyme Life Sciences. I read the many reviews and saw pictures from one
customer who had the same issue I had. There were before and after pictures of
the job performed. I thought if my roof sheathing could look like that I would be happy.
So I called and talked to Mike Partlow who understood my problem and he talked
me through three part process of cleaning the mold and removing the stain. Mike
is out in Albany but has trained contractors throughout the NYS region so being
in Buffalo was not an issue. I talked with a few other contractors and some
were either booked for the next few months or were on vacation ? (during
December). Ultimately, I decided to go with Enzymes Life Sciences and I?m so
glad I did. Within a week, Mike sent out a gentleman named Scott who cleansed
the mold from the attic. The attic looked clean as promised. Mike also gives a
5 year warranty that is transferrable to the new owners which was very
advantageous when adding it to the amended home contract with the buyers.
Mike also stuck with me after the job checking in with me to make
sure the sale was going through with the cleansing completed. That's one other thing
to look for when shopping for a contractor; Mike is there for you and stands behind his work.
Finally, the house closed on schedule within a few days of the final inspection.
I can?t say enough about Enzyme Life Sciences, if you need to get rid of any
mold in your home Mike is your guy.

"John provided a very thorough report of the home- not only did he inspect items for safety- he also pointed out issues that we would need maintenance on a yearly, etc basis. I was a first time home buyer- so I wasn't sure what to expect- so it was reassuring to have items pointed out as either a safety concern, maintenance, etc- with an older home it is difficult to know if it is something that is normal or a true concern. John is also very patient- he answered all of our questions and concerns- and spent several hours on the home inspection. I would without hesitation hire his company again for any home inspections.

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Long Branch, NJ

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
