"Highly recommend Conrad and Del Mar Landscaping as we had a great experience from start to finish. Conrad responded to my quote request within 10 minutes and came to see the property the same day. a fair quote was provided within 48 hours and work commenced within 2 weeks. The team was punctual and super polite and very responsible with our property and clean up. No mud or leftover debris was located anywhere. They came back several times to check on the concrete to make sure the project was completed to our satisfaction. Conrad was a great communicator, always keeping me informed via email and text. They also provided a reasonable price for the work."

"Very well. The men worked very hard in very hot weather. They completed the job a day early. They always left me a text when they took a break or needed to pick up something and they cleaned up their mess. I am very pleased and will use them when I’m ready to work on the side yard."

"I highly recommend working with 4 Season Remodeling & design. Our remodeling project included a complete kitchen remodeling, the removal of a wall, the removal and installation of new floors throughout the entire house, the replacement of the electrical rewiring, and several other upgrades to our old flip house. Jacob and his team transformed the house into a stunning modern lovely place. Our old and ancient kitchen is now so beautiful, and we love using it and spend a lot of time cooking in it! we were continually impressed by the high quality of the work they did. The remodeling project was finished on time even though we had few numbers of difficulties along the work. All the workers came to work on time and were also very polite. Each time we asked any changes, touch-ups, or adjustments Jacob returned to us right away to make sure we were pleased with the work. We also appreciate all the help they offered in making design options during the remodeling project. Overall, we had a wonderful experience working with Jacob, and we will definitely hire 4 Season Remodeling & design again for future projects!"

"I usually don't use the cliche "we couldn't be happier," but we really couldn't be happier with our new paver driveway installed by Falkon. We solicited three bids from companies found on Angie's list. One estimate was really high. A second estimate seemed too good (low) to be true. Based on the Angie's List ratings, I expected Falkon to be about halfway between the two, but the Falkon was almost the same as the "too good to be true" estimate. After researching more and viewing the Falkon website which included past project photos, we selected Falkon for the project. Honestly, at first, I thought Val kind of rushed through the estimate/walkthrough, especially when compared to the experience I had with the other two contractors we spoke with. I'm not saying this to complain. I'm bringing this up to suggest that if you have a similar experience/feeling, don't let that scare you away. Val was always responsive to our needs throughout the decision-making process and the actual project. He never blew us off or made us feel like we were bothering him. Besides, what really counted was the execution of the project and the results. Both were outstanding. Val's crew appeared very experienced. They were punctual and professional. The progress they made each day was phenomenal. We have a pretty large driveway - approximately 1200 square feet with some curving on the borders. Day 1 - Demolished and removed/hauled away old asphalt driveway. Graded soil. Day 2 - Placed underlayments and compacted/graded again Day 3 - Placed all pavers - except for border. Day 4 - Placed bordering pavers and cut inner pavers meeting the border. We requested angled pattern requiring more (and angled) cuts. (By the way, we love the angled paver pattern. Worth the extra effort and cost.) Day. 5 - Filled in gaps between pavers. (about half day). Day 6 - Originally planned, but not needed because everything was completed on Day 5. We highly recommend Falkon Construction for any paver project you are considering."

"Removed all the dead grass and expanded the planting areas, kept one small area of grass since the cats do eat grass once in a while, the two small walls created a nice accent in the back end of the yard and split the hilly part of the yard and we use these small walls to place succulent planters. The steps make it easy to navigate this hilly part.
two trees were planted one was a semi dwarf orange tree and the other one was a mesquite tree, which requires very little water, gravel was placed where there was no grass and slate stepping stones create a nice pathway.
The job took about two weeks, we were told 3 weeks, but it actually only took two. The workers were all very polite and came every day at the same time. Overall we are really happy with the job
We hired Seth because he seemed to understand what we wanted was able to make suggestions that we adopted, listened to our concerns and wants and the price was very reasonable"

"Ray has great guys working for him that are knowledgeable, professional and personable. Ray himself was very accommodating, there were a few blips during the process, which is to be expected, but he was so gracious about making them right, and at times I was admittedly a pain in the butt about it. It took me 25 years to finally afford to do all this work and I am so glad Out of all the people I interviewed and got estimates from I chose Ray. He wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive but he was the one who understood exactly what I needed. I have an old house and fancy would have looked awful. Now it's desert-y and a year later it still looks outstanding. I highly recommend Ray, he is a true landscape professional. This was without question the least stressful experience I've had with a contractor."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Los Angeles, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
