Customers say: Quick response

"Was struggling to find a reliable guy to do some paver work as well as a retaining wall for my backyard for the summer. I was recommended Art to come by. He was able to get a move on things quick. He had incredible attention to detail and was in constant communication with me. Gave some great advice about water drainage with the new patio and way to prevent stagnation of water. He also gave great advice on maintaining the area to ensure the longevity of the project. Overall great job and looking forward to having him do my front walkway as well!"

"This is now our second project with Roy and his Team. We recently tasked them with a large yard renovation and driveway project. The scope was very expansive: demo of existing hardscape, installation of drainage, grading, belgian block driveway curbs, belgian block apron, paver patio, sidewalks and more. The work and craftsmanship changed our whole yard and looks beautiful. The crew and Roy are respectful and friendly, highly recommend."

"I highly recommend R.Williams Paving. They installed a new asphalt driveway at my home this past December. Mac, the Project Manager was wonderful to work with. He is a true professional and possesses excellent customer service skills. This Company was fair in its pricing, skilled in their craft, on schedule and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. Ahab, the job foreman and his team were professional, exhibited expertise and great to work with. Job well done!"

"Excellent! We were very nervous prior to meeting Luis, due to some other interactions with different contractors, but once he came he puts our fears to rest. Luis is very respectful of your home and cares about his work. He has a nice eye for design and putting colors together. We are happy with his attention to detail with the tile placement, grout, and caulking too. We love our new kitchen back splash and shower tile. I would recommend him to anyone with confidence looking for a contractor for tile installation."

"If there were 6 stars, that's what I would give Ultimate Asphalt! The owner, Ryan was prompt, polite and most important, very knowledgeable. My project was a tough one. A very steep, long and winding driveway. My major concern was traction. I discussed it with Ryan who explained what they would do to give me the best traction possible. I was impressed and his price was very competitive. We scheduled the job and he called me shortly thereafter to tell me that he could do it earlier and the weather was favorable. They showed up on time and were very meticulous! They applied the sealcoat by hand, added copious amounts of sand for traction and brushed it out laterally to give more tooth. We have had a few good rainfalls since they did the job. Everything is holding well and the traction is excellent. They filled all cracks and repaired holes before the job. It looks fabulous and I could not be more pleased. If every contractor were as fastidious as Ryan, we would have no need for Home Advisor!!!"

"The project was started promptly, completed professionally without exclusions, questions or confusion. Thomas visited the site prior to giving a quote, even though my specifications were detailed and included a floor plan. He and his team arrived On-Time and prepared to work, and work they did. Installing 5/8" sheetrock requires strength, planning and care to achieve professional results, and these guys are pros! Every outlet and switch cut is point-on, every join smooth, every corner bead flawless and the ceiling and inner joins, perfect. 32 pieces of sheetrock installed to total professional perfection, ready to prime, in just 3 days. As a multi-home owner I will definitely be using Argostoli again and I am happy to offer my highest recommendation for their professional drywall work."

"The crew was good.  The quality of the work is good.  I would recommend them for any concrete work whether old or new or repairs from them.   They did a great job coming up with a good plan to repair my concrete deck around my pool.  Don't hesitate to use them.

"Rightway Waterproofing is the company you want to come and waterproof your basement. I had initially set up a job looking for pros through Angie's List. I was contacted by Rightway Waterproofing via phone and email but did not respond as life happens. Well it rained really heavy again in August and I had more water in the basement. I reached out to them on a Friday and Albert contacted me immediately. They were able to come out on Monday to look at my property. Jake was thorough and friendly. He let me know what he thought we needed, explained everything thoroughly and gave us a quote which was completely reasonable. We accepted the bid and work was to commence on Thurs as they had an opening. Work was completed in one day. The area was kept pristine and they did an amazing job. The crew was courteous to my family. I could not recommend them more. I hope to have them out again at some point to finish my basement area as well. Try to keep in mind that during the season of covid many families are looking for ways to make more space in their homes or to have to home projects done. If you are waiting for work to be done just know that it is worth it! Thanks Rightway!!!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Lyndhurst, NJ

Most shed foundations benefit from a gravel layer four to six inches deep after proper compaction. The exact depth may vary depending on your specific soil conditions, climate, and shed weight. In areas with poor drainage or for heavier structures, contractors might recommend slightly deeper installations. Building the pad in multiple compacted layers rather than a single thick pour helps achieve optimal stability and load distribution.

Gravel pads cost significantly less than concrete foundations. While gravel materials run about $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, concrete slabs average $6 per square foot. For a standard shed base, this price difference translates to substantial savings. Beyond the initial cost advantage, gravel pads also offer easier installation, simpler modifications if needed, and don't require specialized concrete finishing skills.

For a standard 10-by-12 shed pad, you'll need enough gravel to cover 120 square feet at the recommended depth. At rates of $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, expect to spend $150 to $216 on gravel materials alone. Remember to factor in extending the pad beyond the shed's dimensions by one to two feet on each side for better drainage and stability, which increases the actual area needed.

The ideal gravel for shed foundations combines stability with proper drainage capabilities. Crusher run ($0.40 per square foot) makes an excellent base layer because it contains various particle sizes that lock together when compacted. For top layers, angular gravel provides better drainage while maintaining stability. Avoid perfectly round decorative stones as they don't compact effectively and may shift under weight, compromising your shed's stability over time.
