"<p>The company returned initial call within 24 hours to set up appointment. Office personnel was very pleasant. Owner came out and gave an estimate the following day (9/25). Company was good about calling before they arrived. Problem was diagnosed as poor chimney design allowing water to collect on brick ledge and seep through brick to leak into attic/wall. As a solution, a new larger chimney cap was installed with sides protruding further down the sides of the chimney. The new chimney cover appears to be well constructed. Only time and the next bad rain storm will tell if my water leak is actually fixed. It's hard to say since I can't jump up on the roof to take a look for myself!  While Mr. Hopper and the worker that actually came out to perform the work were both easy to work with and professional, I did take issue with having to wait 13 days for the company to come out and actually do the work. And, even then, the worker had to come back the following day to finish the sealant application due to poor time allotment and scheduling. I was told originally  it would take only a week to get the new cap made. I realize delays can happen but I should have been called by the company (not me having calling the company) and kept updated on the situation rather than kept in the dark. I do think that a good job was done and if I have problems that this company will stand behind its work. I will update this review after the first good rain storm.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>UPDATE - 3/28/14 -Unfortunately. the new chimney cap only slowed the leak but failed to eliminate it. The drywall still gets very wet during heavy and/or extended rains. $450 wasted and it's back to the drawing board. Because of this, I have changed the quality grade from a B to a C. <br /> <br /> </p>"

"These guys turned the entire upstairs from unusable to comfortable. And, they made the upstairs and downstairs more energy efficient. When we started, I had a few doubts that it would be worth the investment. I'm writing this review more than a year after the work was completed... so we've been through all seasons. IT IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT. Not only is the upstairs now great (it was previously unusable due to improper insulation and other builder gaps... terribly hot in summer and uncomfortable in winter), but our electric bill is lower. In summer, what used to be a $500 utility bill is now more like a $300 utility bill. Incredible attention to detail, these guys are experts in their field. They do quality work, no shortcuts. They're serious about making meaningful changes that yield a return. Our family is feeling the difference in our house and in our wallet year round. We appreciate a job well done and would absolutely use this company again. (Note that there were some TVA eScore benefits available at the time our work was done, so that helped offset the cost a bit.)"

"Angie’s list review of Parker’s Workshop Allen parker is a delight to work with. We have used his company for three major projects in our home since 2014. The level of expertise and care he provides us is extraordinary. He goes the extra mile for us in regards to dust control and clean up, knowing our need as we are a growing family with babies in the home ever since we started working with him. We trust his workers completely, even leaving them in our home as we go away for the duration of the demos. Allen is a perfectionist and really goes over his work with a fine toothed comb. Another amazing thing he does is stays in frequent contact with the home owner during the entire planning and building process, followed by a follow up session a few weeks later to make sure the home owner is completely happy. He uses good design input as well as functionality."

"Chris was nice and professional.  He did the services as promised.  His workers kept the area as clean as they could, and when they finished, they cleaned up everything.  His company is very busy, but once the work is started, it is completed as promised. Just be patient to when he can get to you. <br />"

"Excellent!!! Eugene came quickly to give me an estimate and was a great guy to do business with. After several attempts to do the job due to another contractor not performing his work on time and weather delays, the work was finally completed. Eugene was very understanding about the delays and did the work as quickly as possible as he knew that my pool renovation was dependent on him completing his work. He squeezed me into his busy schedule and the pool renovation went off right on schedule. There was also quite a bit of dirt to haul off which he did and left the job site clean and neat. Thanks Eugene!"

"During the July storms, we had a tree fall on our home and did a lot of damage which opened up the access to our attic. We phoned Coopertown first thing before calling the contractors to ensure that any wildlife could not get into the attic. They immediately came out and made a plan to prevent any wildlife from coming inside the home and eradicate any possibility of them entering or staying in the attic. Alex Anderson, Certified Lead Technician, came and worked very hard during the hot weather to do what was needed to close up and resecure our home from any wildlife. Alex was very empathetic, friendly, and professional. He then returned after the new roof and fascia boards were installed to seal and reseal any possible areas that vermin might enter the attic space. Thank you Alex and Coopertown for another job WELL DONE! We appreciate you. Gregg Coats and Mark Harris"

"We used this company for a couple of years. They did an excellent job restoring our unused system when we bought our house. They came to us highly recommended by our landscaper. They started out capable, reasonable, reliable and professional but with one incident got expensive at the end. When they turned on our system in the spring, there were two leaks that they did not catch. They charged us $270 for two guys to fix those leaks several days later after damage had been done to our lawn. The two men were here less than an hour and replaced inexpensive parts. Lawn repair was up to us. Aside from the suspicion that the leaks were caused by their inadequate shutdown of the system the previous fall, we were shocked by the cost. <br /> <br /> Aware that this was not good service, Mid-South's owner "made it right". They try hard for good customer service, and in this case made a mistake."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Memphis, TN

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
