"Daniel and his partner installed new appliances and tile in my kitchen, I had new counter tops installed as well in my kitchen and master bathroom. I also used John Krause for a repair to my shed from water damage again Daniel and his partner did an excellent job for me. Very please with Daniel and his work. I believe Daniel is a sub-contractor for John Krause, but none the less in my opinion he did really good work and communicated with every step of the way."

"This was definitely a 5 star operation from the initial discussions to the finishing touches! For a major renovation and upgrade to our master bathroom we reviewed potential contractors and their customer comments. VKB stood out. Our VKB designer Sean clearly has artistic talent and lots of design experience. He patiently worked with us, showing us 3D design options as we considered alternative configurations and materials. When we were satisfied with the design, Sean transitioned us smoothly to the build phase, introducing Jason as our project manager and Walter as our crew chief. Sean personally familiarized Jason with the project, inviting us to share our thoughts and any concerns. During the renovation, Walter and his crew would carefully isolate the MBR work from the rest of the house, sealing off the room and path to the front door with plastic barriers and floor coverings every morning and remove them every evening. Everyone was polite and sensitive to our living space. Jason was responsive to our wishes to refine several design aspects as the work proceeded, and Walter and his crew smoothly made the alterations. After the main construction was completed Jason remained very attentive to our ‘punch list’ of remaining details and our questions until all had been resolved. Walter ensured very high-quality work down to the finest detail. All the work from design to completion was well within the timeframe we had hoped. In the end, we have a beautiful MBR well beyond our original expectations!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Devin Nasvaderani (Marel Homes) is, without a doubt, the best contractor with whom I have ever worked. He came into a job that had been royally screwed up by a prior contractor (see review of Stevenson & Sons). He thoroughly inspected the property, prepared a detailed bid, gave us advice on the most important items and delivered a bid that could work with our budget and the existing lender requirements. His entire crew were professional and consciencious. Devin delivered on time, on budget with high quality work. He kept us informed throughout the process. The portico he built is frequently the subject of compliments by our neighbors (and people just driving by). We will use Devin to continue improving our home. He took a nightmare and turned it into the dream home we had hoped for. If you need a great contractor to remodel your home, call Devin at Marvel Homes (the name says it all). <br />"

"I highly recommend City Renovations and Remodeling to new and experienced homeowners and investors. In fact, Mike Wiggs, owner of the company, was highly recommended to me from a trusted source. Mike has been my designer, general contractor and project manager for over three years. He and his team of subcontractors for all the trades and handymen have successfully completed numerous projects for me. The internal big jobs included Mike and his team remodeling my basement into a permitted apartment with an egress window, injection well system, and recessed lighting; remodeling my kitchen into a larger space, better layout and upgraded appliances, cabinets, backsplashes (e.g., switching from an electric cooktop island to a slide-in gas range and installing a peninsula); changing the location of the sliding door and a set of windows in my sunroom for better flow and sightline from the front door entry to the patio door leading to my wooded backyard; replacing the damaged one of the two HVAC systems (i.e., one for the first floor and basement and the other for the second floor); and whole house interior painting and decorative touches (accent walls, trim, etc.) The external big jobs included Mike and his team resolving the sources of severe water damage to my two-story front door entry area and installing a new door, side lites and stoop. He resolved other water problems at my house by installing upgraded, larger gutters connecting to a new underground drainage system, and re-grading a section of the backyard next to my house in order to better collect water coming onto the house and move it away from the house. The other jobs Mike and his team completed include installing decorative lighting in the front of my house and security lighting at the sides and back; installing and repairing wooden privacy fencing in my backyard; washing away years of mold, mildew and stains from the siding of my house; and installing shelving for two closets and the laundry room to increase my storage space. After years of City Renovations and Remodeling successfully improving or repairing my home, I hired the company to help me with an investment rental property. Mike completed a walk-thru assessment and report to supplement the information from the home inspector and appraiser. Through my pre-purchase consultation with Mike, I got a good idea of what it would take improve the property given my goals and budget. I look forward to working with Mike and his team to renovate the property."

"We have worked with Lorena and Diego on numerous projects on our property - a half-bath buildout in our basement, exterior door and window replacements, and a master bath reno. They are honest and hardworking and provide some of the most reasonable quotes we've seen from other contractors. On this project, DGL worked on floors, doors, and ceilings, and installed canned lighting and fans in our upstairs rowhome rooms in DC. Diego and his team got straight to work at the scheduled date and quick progress was made of demolition and installation. His team was respectful of the place and did an adequate job controlling dust and debris throughout the rest of the house. DGL hired a few subcontractors as well for the job. To refinish our oak stairs and pine floors upstairs, the crew sanded and stained to our specifications (Monocoat), which came out looking great. We'd hoped they could clean up some of the old/decayed wood filler, but we realize it's complicated in a 90-year old home. DGL also hired a plumber to cut and cap a pipe for us, for which I believe we were charged way too much. I don't blame DGL, but the plumber was out of hand with his pricing. We had an electrician run new lines to each of the bedrooms, which resulted in massive chunks of wall being torn out. DGL's team did the drywall/plaster repair and made it look perfect. We were very impressed with their work. Ultimately, DGL truly transformed our upstairs and we are extremely pleased with the result. We'd highly recommend working with DGL for home projects and will continue working with them in the future."

"Had to gut and renovate the bathroom in our daughter's Washington DC aparment after the shower wall had caused a leak into the neighbor's apartment. <br /> We interviewed several contractors found through Angie's list, and the one we were most interested in turned out not to be able to take the job but recommended Stowe's Contracting.  <br /> Although Gene's estimate was 50% higher than one of the others, he promised great quality work; we discussed in detail materials to be used in the walls etc.  <br /> As we live a 4 hour drive away from the DC apartment and had to supervise the reno from afar it was very important to us to be able to communicate on a daily basis on the plans, complications and progress, and Gene promised he'd do that. <br /> As in all my projects, I like to do the design myself and provide each and every item to be installed, so we had the tiles, shower basin, shower doors, shower panel, vanity, medicine cabinet, toilet, light fixture and towel racks all in place.  <br /> Gene and his worker Angel were both very good at really working according to the detailed work plans and drawings, which  was important given the tiny space we were working in! <br /> We were on the phone daily and received progress reports including pictures, and although no renovation ever goes without complications( through no fault of either side) , things went reasonably smoothly.  <br /> Wonderful attention to covering up furniture, covering the floor and cleaning up after each work day, and after the project was finished a professional home cleaner dusted and cleaned the whole apartment on Gene's initiative, which was great given my daughter's busy job. <br /> We're waiting for the final pictures. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Marbury, MD

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
