"AAA Rated Company!! They showed up on time and schedule, were extremely qualified and did excellent work. The install went perfectly, the 2 men that showed up were "craftsman". They vacuumed up the inside, picked up every little piece of scrap left over, carted away my old windows and overall displayed a high level of professionalism.. Would definitely hire them again. "They were very prompt in responding to the need for a quote and for being accommodating with the dates available for the installation. They came on the promised date, worked diligently and were very clean during the whole installation. In the basement (mechanical) room, the foam was sprayed directly on the stone walls, as agreed. However, our general contractor pointed out to them that such exposed foam needs to be painted with a fire-retardant paint according to code requirement, and thus, the installation team had to come back the next day for this extra step. We were just made aware of the extra cost when we got the final invoice, although their contract term specified that 'any alterations ... must be agreed upon between the parties and the price fixed by them before work on such alteration'. The two parties were us (not our general contractor) and them, so right there, there was a possible issue. Plus the fact that they should have proposed to us upfront that a fire-retardant paint could be necessary (we are not in the insulation or construction business); we would have certainly agreed to it and they would not have to make the extra trip to come back for doing it, thus a reduced cost. Needless to say, March and Martin were extremely professional and accommodating about the issue and we reach a mutually agreeable compromise by a simple email. If only all contractors could be so professional! We would certainly want to use them again for this and for the quality of their work overall. <br />"

"I replaced 17 windows in my home. Some where double windows and 1 triple window. It took some time for the windows to come in after ordering, but all work is completed now. They did a great job."

"From my initial meeting with Phil Coleman, owner, to the installation, everything was very professional. The windows that were installed today (10/31/18) are very high quality (triple pane) and sealing the window system in place was done with great expertise. The new windows open easily and there is a screen on the outside for ventilation. The original windows were in a steel frame embedded in the concrete foundation and the windows were no longer able to close for a tight seal plus some of the window panes were cracked. Our basement will be much warmer now. I had trouble finding a company that would do this small job but Phil said no job is too small for them. I would highly recommend this company-they do big jobs and small jobs. Phil presented copies of several reference letters that were very impressive."

"Overall we were extremely happy with the result. They went above and beyond in all aspects. We worked with John in ordering the windows, and he went through all the details numerous times to ensure we got what we wanted. He even met us at the showroom on a Saturday to fit with our schedule. The windows turned out great- and for a fraction of the price another company quoted in the Boston area. Highly recommend United Better Homes and hope to use them again for a roof or new doors."

"Alan was referred to me by a close friend who has used the service before. I wish all contractors were like Alan & Cheryl. Nice people, honest, straight foreward and downright good people. After my initial contact with Cheryl, Alan was here the next day to provide and estimate. The following day I received a call with a great price and they were here the next week (per our combined schedule) to perform the work. I am only sorry that I waited so long to have my windows fixed."

FAQs for new windows service projects in Marlborough, MA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
