"The job proceeded perfectly from appointment setting to finish. Owner (Tom) came to the house to complete estimate, advised us exactly what we needed (men in our home are mechanics which helped in evaluating service). They installed new heat & air in the attic (previously in garage), installed new ductwork, new thermostat, and a new compressor outside. Job was completed in very timely fashion. Of course they also hauled off the old equipment. We waited a couple of weeks to review to allow us to experience system at work. Today it was over 90 degrees and system is handling it beautifully. System is virtually silent. I know it's running if air is blowing on me. It's even quiet (not silent, naturally, but quiet) when standing in the attic. In other words, components were installed/fitted/tightened well. Owner and crew were knowledgeable and professional. I have already recommended them to others. We are quite pleased."

"Josh was the tech that came out. He was very professional and clean. He was courteous and on time. He spoke clearly about what was going on with the A/C. He had everything he needed right then and there to find out what was wrong. Also, the problem should be fixed in about 2 days which is super fast compared to my experience with other repair companies. I would defiantly recommend."

"The installers were incredibly courteous, clean, and very professional. They answered all my questions and showed me everything they were doing. The installation was done quickly and on schedule. The H/VAC system works beautifully!!!! I have already noticed a significant drop in my electricity bills. I have since hired Airco to not only perform further electrical work, but to also do some major plumbing work involving complete replacement of old iron pipes. Again, the work was professional, on schedule, and completely solved the problem. I plan to continue to hire Airco to do any electrical/plumbing work needed in the future."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"The installers were professional.  Removal of the old system and installation of the new one was efficient with all work completed in a few hours.  This company was the second-best price of the three quotes.  I chose Advent because they have a knowledgeable staff and can provide support quickly if I need it.  The lowest bid was from an individual who I did not think could provide support.

"They did help me put it in though I probably could have done it myself. The service call should have been $89. My bill was 200. So I guess I paid them over $100 to install my thermostat. It took 10 minutes."

"Professional crew. Great price on new install"

"I can't say enough good things about my experience with DC Family Home Improvements and Deeb! From the moment I reached out, he was unbelievably responsive and was able to come out the very next day, which was a lifesaver for us. We made some rookie mistakes with our TV mounting, and Deeb swooped in like a superhero, fixing it with such expertise and care that it instantly put our minds at ease. Now, our TV looks absolutely perfect—it’s level, secure, and stylish. I genuinely couldn’t be happier with the results! What impressed me most was not just his fantastic skill but also his friendly demeanor. He alleviated all the stress we had and turned a fiasco into a success story. We’ll definitely be calling Deeb again for any future projects around the house. If you're on the lookout for a reliable handyman who truly knows his stuff, don't hesitate to reach out to DC Family Home Improvements. Trust me; you won’t regret it! 10/10 recommend!!! 🌟"

"It went absolutely amazing! I cannot express enough just how professional and helpful Mike is! He helped me over the phone when I first called and walked me through specific things about our HVAC system, He gave us an exact and very fair quote for repair and replacement and he was on time and got us back up and running so quickly. He is just so knowledgeable and respectful and we had a great experience with him fixing our system and I highly recommend giving him a call if you are having trouble with your HVAC system."
