"The process and work went very well; they arrived on time and kept working all day in the heat. They brought the equipment they needed. Began by opening up holes in the yard, every few feet, so there were 9 on each side of the length of the house. While that was going on another crew member was in the basement drilling a hole in the foundation to install the anchor rod into and thread it through the earth anchor/plate that is in the yard. Then applied the wall plate inside the basement. At that point they applied a tork wrench. There are 23 anchor plates placed around 3 sides of the basement. They leave a tork wrench for the owner to apply 80 lbs of tork every 2-4 wks. through the months of June, July and Aug and dry season mainly. When the soil is dry. This process works over time and will close the cracks and straighten the bows in the foundation.  <br /> I was very pleased that when spoken to they were very polite  <br /> They worked from about 8 to 5 the first day and so they had to come back the next day until 11 am.  They cleaned up after themselves getting rid of all the trash. <br /> It was wonderful they helped move heavy items that I couldn't move out of their way. <br /> <br />"

"In addition to the gutter guards which were installed and the downspouts buried, Thrasher also changed out a misfitting basement window well and cover, and installed a Sadona dehumidifying system. Jonah and his crew of Corrin and Luis were excellent at the work they did. I was called before they arrived, to ensure I was ready for them to start work, and Jonah went over the work with me prior to starting, to confirm what was to be done. Completely professional. After it was completed, we inspected it together and everything was perfect. I will worry less next time it rains! I will definitely recommend Thrasher if anyone I know needs work done."

"The predicted installation time was 3 days and was accomplished on schedule! The installation team- Tim, Lee and Nick, were very competent, professional and friendly. They worked extra hard because it was necessary to stage their truck and trailer over 100 feet from the job site. When an unexpected problem arose where one of the engineered drain channels could not work in this application, installation team lead Tim had other solutions in mind and the company was able to deliver suitable alternate material without delaying the project. I am very pleased with the end result, and also want to recognize excellent efforts of the system designer/project estimator- Tim Miller, for his professional approach to evaluating the problem and working collaboratively with me to develop a sound solution. My thanks also to Kaylan for managing this project."

"I had a water leak in the basement when I called them. Upon estimate and inspection it was determined that I had a severely bowed wall in another spot. They placed wall anchors on that wall. On the other wall that was leaking they placed lining and water proofing ot the outside and inside of the wall. Then they put dirt to help channel water and fill in low spots in the yard. In order to do this they had to take up some decking, railing and fencing. They removed and replaced all this with very high professionalism and everything looked even better than when they got there. When doing the anchors, they had to cut holes in the drywall. They replaced all the drywall that they cut and finished it so that all I had to do was repaint and move furniture back into place. Excellent service for the price."

"Everything went great. The plumber came by the same day we called him. This wasn't an emergency so we were able to go over the repairs needed and the cost in advance. Repairs were done quickly so I didn't have to take off work for very long and the price was good. All the repairs were done correctly and everything looked good. They had to cut the basement ceiling to get to the pipes but the patch job looked great. They did forget to test one of the faucets, so I found out that the knob needed to be tightened a little but that wasn't a big deal. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Mcpherson, KS

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
