"The job went very well and they did some extra work to enhance the project with no additional charges. I would definitely use them again. My only concern and it is VERY minor, is the re-installation of sod after they completed the work. Some areas took a while to fill in and thicken to previous conditions however at this time everything looks great! The system works better than expected and I do not have any standing water or soggy areas with their drainage. Their price was very good and well worth it!"

"The screen porch job was excellent. Materials used are consistent with the house style and I could not be happier with the appearance. The workmanship by this contractor's brother and the brother's son-in-law was excellent. Although the bathroom upgrades finally came together and look very good, there were some unfortunate incidents that have left me with a negative opinion of this contractor. 1. Following contract signing and my deposit, I was informed that the manufacturer does not paint the curved vanity sections in the color I had chosen [I later contacted the manufacturer and was told they do. Perhaps this is a recent development]. The contractor then informed me that he has a paint shop, obtains the pigment from the manufacturer, does the necessary painting and that I would be pleased with the results. The vanities were assembled and installed minus the curved doors. In the mean time, my marble countertops were expertly installed by Bloomday, a company I have previously worked with and highly recommend. After some delay due to what I was told was slow paint drying, the curved doors were installed by the contractor. They looked very nice. However, later that evening I discovered that the finish on the factory coated drawers were silky smooth whereas the contractor painted doors were quite rough. I emailed the contractor and along with supplying excuses, he removed the doors to repaint them. Unfortunately, I must conclude that he knew about the condition of the doors but was not going to say anything and repainted only because I pointed out the problem. 2. The under sink plumbing in both baths required redos because of improper installation by a plumber that apparently used alcohol during work hours. Although he was discharged when this was brought to the contractor's attention by me, his errors leading to leaks were initially defended. This was a Friday and I ended up with no sink water for the weekend due to the master bath leaks. I was assured that another plumber would rectify the problems. 3. The next incident was with the under sink back panels of the vanities. These were made by the contractor who told me the manufacturer did not make these [I later verified this to be true]. Instead of roughing in the plumbing and installing the panels prior to the vanity tops being installed, this job was left until after. It is my opinion that this was an oversight; when my kitchen remodel was done by another contractor, plumbing was roughed in and the back panel around the pipes and attached to the vanity prior to the counters being installed. The plumber and his helper returned to redo the under sink plumbing. They also installed the back panels. After the backs were installed and the contractor and his workers had gone for the day, I was most distressed to discover that the panels were crookedly installed with large gaps left between the panel edges and the vanity sides. There were also oversized holes cut around the plumbing pipes. There continued to be issues with the master bath plumbing and the contractor sent the same workers out again the next day. When he came to my home later in the morning, I asked that he look at how the back panels had been installed. He subsequently informed me that he was returning to his shop to remake the panels. The redo resulted in professional results by the plumber and his helper. Again, because the contractor was in my home when the first set of panels were installed, I can only conclude that he knew about the shoddy work and would say nothing unless I did. Although there were other lesser but also annoying issues, I will not address these. I will however address this contractor's very poor customer relations skills. I contracted his services because of the favorable job cost estimate and because the four references I contacted from the list he provided at my request were positive. Unfortunately, his attitude toward me was often condescending, disrespectful and rude. I wrote the final check this morning and handed it to him when he came to the door. His response as he turned to leave was "have a good day." There was not a word of thanks for my business and certainly no apologies for the problems and delays. I am so happy the job is done and my last words are "good riddance.""

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Mebane, NC

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
