I even got a stainless steel chase installed for the price most were charging for galvanized metal one's. I went with the stainless due to the fact it will last forever. C&A clean up nicely. "Great experience. Communication was very quick, clear, and responsive. The work was done on time exactly as agreed upon and the end product looks and works great. Price came in under quote. We wanted to get our fireplace made functional and safe and Smalling provided an economical and minimally invasive way to do this. Another company we spoke with wanted to basically demolish the inside of our chimney and the flue, expand the opening, haul all the debris out through the house, re brick the fire box, and rebuild the top part of our chimney while installing a damper. We did not want to go this far as this method would have been too expensive, invasive, and dirty. Smalling offered another way to accomplish the same goal. They sprayed a ceramic liner into our flue to seal it and heat-proof it, re tuck-pointed our fire box, installed a top-mounted damper and control chain and replaced our rusty chimney cap. This only took one day versus the other method which would have taken three, and it cost half as much as the more invasive method. We are very happy with this more modern and creative approach to our flue/fireplace restoration and we have been enjoying fires in our house for the first time since we bought it."

"Took a bit of time to get them scheduled. I think I may have been their last job in 2014. Weather wasn't cooperating, but they could have communicated better 2-3 weeks in advance to let me know the approximate work date. However, once the job started, they arrived early and worked late every day until it was done. I believe the workers were experienced and the site supervisor was friendly and willing to answer my questions and tell me what was happening on a regular basis. They did a really professional looking flashing job around the chimney. 99.99% of the mess was cleaned up, which I thought was really good. I still find little bits and pieces of the old roof, and I found only one nail in the following 6 months. I would hire them again.

"The quality of the work was well done.  Greg and Adam are very responsive.  Adam does excellent work, and very fast once he had all the cabinets, etc.  The thing folks need to know is that it takes a very long time to get cabinets custom ordered and to get granite selected and cut.  Make sure you build this in.  Overall I think this project took too long to complete (over two months), but the overall final product was really great.

"The gentlemen that showed up through a Big Deal gave me an estimate, then went to the store to purchase the cedar.  They purchased some of the wrong sizes, but went back on their own time and purchased the correct size.  The job entailed more than we originally thought due to some rotting that was underneath the deck.  They replaced the wood, cleaned up their space well and left it in good shape.
