"Spencer and Albert came out to the house and encapsulated part of the basement. They were professional and polite. They came in, encapsulated the space, cleaned the area up. I would definitely recommend them"

"P.K. Masonry arrived at my home on three different days on time, ready and willing to start the work. I was impressed how carefully he measured and drew out the plans for the fireplace. On my fireplace install PK was always concerned with what I was asking for, and listened to what I had to say. We didn't always agree, but he showed great patience dealing with me who knows nothing about what it takes to build a fireplace. I love my new fireplace that he built and will enjoy owning it for years to come. I definitely would hire PK again and have a job for him, planned for the future."

"They were done in a day.  They brought the dumptster the day before and put on the side of the house.  When I left that day, they had started at 7 am and when I came home that evening; they were finishing up. They cleaned up after themselves. The roof looks remarkable."

"The overall experience was excellent! They updated me almost daily about the process (it took several days to complete). I wasn't sure how things would work out since we were doing all this coordination long distance over the phone, but Michelle was an outstanding coordinator, and very detailed in explaining how the process was going. They take extreme pride in their work, and they did not even want me to pay them until I had done a complete inspection of their work. I live in Alabama, and the house is in Georgia, so I had to drive a few hours to get there. I was amazed at how good the house looked, and how it smelled! It had been closed up for months and had a musty smell before. NGR--North Georgia Remediation does an excellent job of killing the mold, cleaning all surfaces, and making sure it doesn't come back. I would definitely call them back if I purchased another home that needed this treatment done, and I would definitely recommend them to a friend!"

"Ricky Boger of Superior Home Improvement Remodel my kitchen; His work is EXCEPTIONAL he even helped me pick out color's, granite and offered sound advice. I thought his price was high at first, so I got other estimates and they were either the same or higher; Ricky came back and supplied me with an itemized list, down to the price of the canned lighting. It has been a few years and my kitchen still looks wonderful. I have hired other home improvement companies and have not been so pleased. The reason why I am writing this now (2012) is I recently remodeled my bathroom. An age old story - I hired someone that worked for a family member, the work took forever and looked OK, but underneath it was a mess! Shower leaked on all sides. I have called in Superior Home improvement to fix the job. I WISHED I WOULD HAVE HIRED SUPERIOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. <br /> THEY CLEAN-UP AFTER THEMSELVES. <br /> <br /> I wanted to put a and quot;Band quot; but I could not honestly do so."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Mount Airy, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
