Customers say: True professional

"We found McCormick home builders through Angie’s list. They were not one of our original contacts, but they contacted us and came out to give us a quote. Matteo was extremely helpful, informative, honest, and gave us reasonable realistic prices, and did not try to inflate the prices or pressure us in anyway. We felt very comfortable with him immediately. We felt like he was a member of the family that we could just talk to and ask questions he was very personable. He gave us his contact number in case we had other questions and he was always available when we needed him for any type of questions or concerns. Mateo‘s team did a beautiful job. They were fast. They were efficient. They cleaned up beautifully. They did a wonderful job. They were very considerate of our time our needs and our neighbors. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Matteo from McCormick home builders for any home building projects, and we will be calling him again in the future!"

"Very good experience. Bob did an excellent job - very meticulous, plus solved our problem with the screens. He even had us wait to pay him for the cleaning until he brought the repaired screens back the next day. <br /> I got 3 quotes and Big Sky Window Cleaning was the best price. <br /> I will definitely be a repeat customer. <br />"

"Excellent Job. Courteous, on time with excellent results. I have used McCormick's for a number of years and really appreciate the quality of the work that they do. I have a home that has 3 stories in the back so it it can be a challenge but they managed to get all the windows. At the end I passed on the walk through but Todd wanted to get a few spots off a third floor window by hand by removing the lower portion of the window which he was successful in doing. When he went upstairs to do this window he noticed they missed the exterior of a hard to see window on the third floor. At that point he got his ladders back out, went up on the roof and got that window. I am not sure many companies would be that diligent and I really appreciated it. They also replaced a screen which had holes in it for an additional charge."

"We had a tenant that we believe may have put dirt on the tracks of our sliding doors and damaged a screen. We also had a lock that we wanted to replace, but the installation was obsolete. The replacement latch had to be ordered thus requiring visit #2. We are very satisfied with the repairs performed."

"First, I was very happy with the glass itself -- it was cut to the correct dimensions. The reason for the B grade is that I called ahead and the girl answering the phone must have been distracted and wasn't friendly or helpful. When I got to the store, I learned that they did not have same day service, so I would have to drive back (about 20 miles) the following Monday to pick up the pieces. It would have been very helpful to hear that when I called, although to be fair, I did not ask and confirm that I would get same day service. I also learned that I couldn't get an estimate on replacing an old shower door because although I had most of the dimensions, I didn't have the thickness of the current door. When I said that I wished I had known I should get that, the girl responded with quite an attitude along the lines of 'well, you didn't ask that.' The other girl working there was quite helpful. But the girl who was first point of contact (phone and then in person) should be way more customer friendly. Again - the glass was fine; it was the customer service of the receptionist that needs to be corrected. <br />"

"This is the second time we have used Mobile Speed Screens.  The first time was last summer (2013) when another screen contractor I had contacted (whose address was only 3 blocks from our house) said he couldn't find a place to park and told us to call someone else.  So, I went back on Angie's List, found Mobile Speed Screens and called them.  Kelly answered immediately and came out the very same day.  He made 2 screens for our upstairs windows for a total cost of $75.  So, I didn't hesitate to call him again when I needed a new screen for our front door.  And, he is up-to-date technology-wise as he uses "Square" which allows him to accept credit cards on site. <br />"

"I called the Best Value after seeing their A ratings of Angies List, the company was quick to answer the call and schedule a convenient time for the repair. I was quoted a price of 250.00 because Best Value thought by the size of the slider it may take two men to do the job. The company arrived as scheduled and were very professional. Because the job actually only took 1 man to do the job they dropped the price to 150.00. <br /> The slider is located at a rental property. The company allowed me to pay over the phone after the repair via credit card. This experience was so pleasant that I would recommend this company to anyone for their home or rental properties. Their honesty in the pricing made me a true fan. My tenant says the slider works PERFECTLY and they are very happy. Call them for your repair work, you won't be dissapointed. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Mount-laguna, CA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
