"I found these folks here on HomeAdvisor! Extensive Flooring Project with an "Out of this World" Result!! Our home had severe water damage due to a water heater that had leaked for a long period of time before it finally let go. Needless to say, there was no way to know for sure just how bad it was until the demolition work began. We soon found out that most of the underlayment and subfloor would have to be removed and other repairs made before we would ever see our new flooring in place. Casey and Wendy did a fantastic job helping us along to the start. They were very responsive to our requests for quotes and even made an additional trip out when we uncovered important information. Once the renovation began, Casey and Craig worked their tails off to make everything right. With the joists exposed we were able to see the many areas that needed to be addressed before any flooring went down. There was plumbing that had leaks, joists in one area that had to be replaced, drain pipes that were broken, HVAC ducts that were missing insulation and rusting... and mold. A project that should have taken 10 days, quickly turned into a month-long ordeal. That is not a complaint. What I'm saying is that they did everything that was necessary and more to ensure that all of the issues that arose were resolved properly. I never once heard talk of any short cuts, rather, the discussions were about how to do something the right way. Obviously, there were changes from the original quote and these were all handled in written estimates. Billing was done at agreed upon intervals with no surprises. There were times when the costs were adjusted down due to changes as well. They are very open and fair in how they deal with clients. The end result is not just gorgeous floors, which they are, but we know that everything done to get there was done right and that there are no outstanding issues that could come back to haunt us (or Casey). Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Harris Renovations, LLC for their outstanding effort and beautiful result on our new floors! Thanks Casey, Wendy, and Craig!!"

"Pergola was O.K.  Column base was not satisfactory.  I reached him  later, but haven't heard back from him.  His number doesn't seem to working.  I would like for him to repair the base of the column, but I cannot get hold of him. The last time I talked with him was several weeks ago.  He was to contact me the following week, but I haven't heard from him & can't seem to get in contact with him.  Please contact him to let him know I still need the column base repaired.  Thank you. <br /> Jan woodland   88-5335 <br />"

"Original experience: Our van failed inspection due to a crack in the windshield. They quoted us a reasonable price. When we went to pick the van up, they actually charged us around $20 LESS than the price originally quoted. (They explained that on our particular van they hadn't had to use a molding that was included in the original quote). Second time around: They did a good job (as far as we can tell), for a good price. We had actually had this repaired once before by someone else who didn't really know what they were doing, and it had come back out. Since these guys do this for a living (and they definitely used more professional-looking materials), I suspect it'll hold for a long time. Third time around: Their price was reasonable, but upon consulting with them they explained the limitations of windshield repair and advised that we might be better off to just wait and eventually replace the windshield. Cost of repair would've been around $100 or slightly more; the cost of replacing the windshield would be around $200. Obviously, I don't know their exact profit margins but I'm estimating that the profit probably isn't that much different whether they repair or replace. In any event, they essentially turned down the immediate job, and as far as I can tell it was because their goal was to genuinely do what was best for the customer -- even if it meant risking never getting the job later. The bottom line is that we have used or consulted them on 3 occasions, and been happy every time. Our experience is that they have been honest, professional, and worked with our best interest in mind. Note that they apparently have multiple locations. We have no experience with their other location, but have been very happy with the South Glenstone one. Our first experience took place probably around 2006 or 2007, the second and third experiences in February/ March 2011."

"Good. Work was done in a reasonable length of time at a reasonable price. Some payments were requested early. There were some quality issues, though they either took care of them as requested or I was able to. Nothing major yet.I had to call them once about communication as to timeliness of completion,I was called back promptly. So all in all I would rate it a good experience."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Mount Vernon, MO

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
