Customers say: Quality work

"We had Pelican Rock Company install a border edging using block pavers we also had edging installed in a plant bed across the front of the house. We are extremely happy with the quality of the work. The installers were professional and clean. The work is sharp and looks fantastic. They made sure curves were installed properly and lines were straight. Great job. I highly recommend you give them a call for your next project."

"We had excellent experiences with Dirt Works. They are responsive, expedient and do skilled work. We use them regularly to clear trails and clean up fallen trees on 10 acres. We also used them for clearing, fill dirt, gravel and other projects at both our business and residence. We can always have absolute confidence that things will get done right and be well done. I can’t say enough about this company."

"<p>I will never use this company again. I hired them to repair a sunken driveway caused from a phone company doing repairs in my neighborhood. When we discussed what he would do I was under the understanding he was going to repair the driveway all the way across. They did about half way across. I still have some sunken pavers that I had to hire someone else to fix.</p> <p>They were told I was an Angies List Member and I thought there was a discount associated with that. There wasn't. <br /> <br />At 8:00am the workers were outside my house banging the heck out of their wheel barrel. Not sure if they were doing it to get the dings out or just to wake up the neighborhood. Neighbors were calling me upset. Very disrespectful and annoying. Do this work at the office or warehouse. Not outside your customers homes. <br /> <br />They drug the house from the very back of the house to use instead of knocking on my door and asking me to unlock the spigot on the one that was a foot away from them. This other hose had been placed behind my bougainvillea. Once they removed it, it damaged my plant and we have had to cut it back.</p> <p> I sent them the check and a note with what I thought was bad customer service with no follow up to see if the customer was happy and I haven't heard a word from them. They cashed their check immediately. So much for being customer friendly and respectful company.</p> <p>The sad part is, I do home watch and two customers of mine are looking for someone to do patios and walkways and I won't recommend them.  So I will try other companies and hopefully they will be better. </p> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Naples, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
