"Dave came by and tested for mold with this cheap test kit. He tested with my test kit even though he didn't think they were an accurate method. He proceed to do his own thorough assessment and did not see any signs of mold. When he concluded his visit without charging me anything! And that is so unusual these days! A+"

"Fantastic people working for Mold Science Environmental. Mark was very professional and I was super anxious about the massive damage and mold we had in our basement - the entire house went from being a toxic wasteland, back to the clean, safe place that I love. Each day since the remediation which happened about 4 days ago, the house has felt more and more like our home again. Mark was responsive, on time, and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend him into your home and he is someone you can trust! He works FOR the people!! SO grateful that we found him."

"We contacted Helander Healthy Homes about an air quality issue at one of our rental properties. Don responded very quickly and took time to answer all of our questions. He referred us to a company that did air quality testing and that company was also very responsive and competent. When we discovered that remediation was necessary, Don recommended an expedient and cost-efficient solution and was able to do the work very quickly thereafter. Follow up air quality testing confirmed that the issue was resolved. We would recommend Helander Healthy Homes without reservation."

"Excellent. Florian came in and immediately found issues with the bathroom vents as well as the dryer vent. The stuff birds had carried in to these vents over the years was amazing. It blocked my bathroom vent to the point where the flex was sloshing with water since the condensation couldn't get past the bird nest materials. This was not in scope of the original call for the dryer, but it was money well spent and I felt the pricing overall was very fair. I will most definitely work with these guys again."

"I had a small amount of mold in my basement. Michael was very knowledgeable and eliminated the mold for a much lower cost than some of the big companies that I called. He even scheduled my appointment for a time that was convenient for me. I'm very happy with the results!"

"My wife and I were looking at a property to buy, but it had a mold problem in the basement. Art Fontaine of New Tech responded quickly to our request for a test and we got the results in three days! Art was very professional, courteous and prompt (he arrived early for our appointment). He was clear about what he was doing and what the results meant. A very positive experience."

"Required repair to a front dormer , which was one immediately and cost an additional $350.00 that day. Horizontal third floor gutters were cleared of debris, but apparently not the vertical draining pipes. The dormer repair failed within months. I requested n estimate for replacement of the roof, which was provided soon thereafter. I have been in discussion of the cost of the portion of the roof needing repair first, planning to have the second half done early next year. Marshall Home Pros told me that they needed to have a 50% deposit a month ahead, in order to get a permit from the city. Meanwhile, have gotten an estimate from another company, clearly written, asking for somewhat less than the total cited by Marshall. I was told that no permit is needed (angles and height of roof are not going to be changed), and without needing to hold $$ for as long. Deposit proportion is less (not really the issue except that I didn't want $$ held for 30 days or more before work date would even be assured), and readiness to do the work within a shorter period, and within a day with a large crew, to minimize disruption to residents here and nearby. Materials and specs are the same for both estimates. My degree of trust in both is not. I signed with the other company."

"

I paid $69 through an Angie's List "Big Deal" for what was advertised as a "complete home mold inspection".

What I got was a single swab of a single beam in the attic. Two other companies I called out for estimates did this exact test... for free.

The estimate I was given for mold remediation by PIC Home Pros was TRIPLE the lowest estimate I received for the same work, even the same brand of products, and exactly DOUBLE the middle estimate from the company I ended up going with.  I have never been more sure that getting at least 3 estimates is the only way to know you're not getting ripped off... and I would certainly have been ripped off if I'd had this work done by PIC.

That being said, the inspector who came to my home was on time, professional, and not pushy when I saw the estimate and said "umm...we'll have to talk about this and get back to you".

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in New Castle, NH

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
