"I would never have chosen Finestra based on their advertising of 5 windows for $999 - too used car salesy.  But after interviewing many others and since they had high reviews from Angie, we called them.  They were half of our other estimates, so I was suspicious of the quality of windows.  Come to find out they were installing the very same brand that the competitors were installing.  They were great to work with.  Did what they said, when they said they would.  Installers were very friendly and professional.  Great job. <br /> <br />"

"This is a follow-up to my original review of February 9, 2017. A new sash was ordered to replace the one in which the glass cracked just after insertion of a window grille pin into the bottom of the sash. Four weeks later, on 3/9/17 a technician arrived and installed a new sash. All went well until he inserted a grille pin into the bottom of the sash -- the glass cracked, again. What are the chances that this could happen twice and with different technicians? Apologies were made and another sash was ordered. Five weeks later, on 4/17/17 the Andersen tech arrived with a new sash, installed it, and fingers crossed, the grill pin was successfully inserted. Yeah! My final assessment is that this small project to replace a bow window with three double-hung windows took far longer from start to finish (Nov. 2016 - Apr. 2017) than was reasonable, even without the grille pin mishaps. I do however, credit Andersen with persistence in bringing this project to satisfactory completion. Service can be a bit of a lengthy process, but they do follow through. I will say again, these replacement windows are beautifully made and energy-efficient. The technicians are professional, courteous and highly skilled."

"Art did a great job, he was able to get the silicone residue that was on my new vinyl replacement windows when they were installed off. I had tried several times and was unsuccessful. He was professional, neat, on time, and reasonably priced. My windows look fabulous!"

"From the moment we met Paul we were sold. He is one of the nicest guys you could ever work with, and his prices are very fair. Having Paul and his crew here is like having company... Well company that works very hard. They came in and after a quick assessment got to work. They divided and conquered, each person just taking on a task, whether it was removing, prepping, installing, finishing, cleaning, painting...you name it! We are very satisfied in how neat and tidy our windows look, and definitely notice the difference in the upgrade. Our current vinyl windows were 15+ years old, some were cracked, fogged up or they just weren't performing up to par. Now we feel well insulated, we can see out clearly and they look great all around the edges!!"

"Phil and Doug were wonderful to work with- very responsive, professional, and answered all of my questions. We replaced a regular window in our home with a 7 foot bay window, which is beautiful and we absolutely love it. My one complaint was that a hole in the wall underneath the window was left following the installation, as well as some cracks, which were patched with a foamy substance but not a proper smooth plaster repair job that could be painted. We had to take care of that repair ourselves. Otherwise, my experience was very positive."

"Luis and his crew at Lecla were outstanding... From the estimate all the way through to completion, this was a great experience. They offered good recommendations, had a great selection of materials, pricing was clear and fair, and Luis answered all my questions and concerns. Most importantly, his crew showed up when they said they would, they worked consistently and were courteous, considerate and thorough in their efforts before, during and after the job. I highly recommend them for any roof repair or roof replacement project. I was so satisfied with the results, I'm considering Lecla for siding/window replacement on our home as our next project."

"I had some roof leaks for a while as well as weakened plywood so finally bit the bullet and decided to take action for a new roof. I called four different roofers, all well reviewed in Angie’s List. Keith Gauvin was the only of the four I was able to talk to immediately. One of the others called the next day and the other two were never heard from. Keith gathered the information from me and sent his foreman, Jonathan, out to evaluate the job within a few hours. I indicated that I wanted to start as soon as possible and would appreciate a quick response regarding the estimate. Jonathan and I discussed where the plywood, shingles and dumpster would best be placed to minimize damage to the driveway and lawn. I believe it was the next day that said estimate was sent. I knew what my neighbors and relatives had paid for their roof replacements so had a rough idea of what I thought the price should be. Keith’s estimate was in the ballpark so I hired him. A portable bathroom was dropped off the day before work was to commence, a nice touch as I wondered where the workers would take care of such matters during the 10-11 hour workdays. I have a number of large, old shrubs around the house which I was anxious to protect. Jonathan, the aforementioned foreman, saw to it that large tarps hung from the roof to protect all shrubbery. They put blocks of wood under the dumpster in order to prevent damage to the driveway. Work began the first day on time at 7:30am. Communications from this point were with Jonathan, who clearly had successfully passed an Emily Post manners course which I’m sure was attended along with Mr. Gauvin as evidenced by the polite and expeditious communications I had with them. As the house is large with three stories and a double garage, it was a big job and took two days to complete. All existing shingles were torn off and a good amount of the roof had to be replaced with plywood. The five or six man crew worked very hard under the supervision of Jonathan. There was no damage to my shrubs; the tarp did its job. Their cleanup was excellent including picking up any nails and using a leaf blower for pieces of shingles and wood. The job was completed late on a Saturday; the dumpster and portable bathroom were removed on Monday. The next day, I noticed a wooden brace for one of my garage planters was gone. After notifying Mr. Gauvin, Jonathan came over, took measurements and returned at another time to replace it. During a heavy rainstorm a few weeks after the job, I checked for leaks in the attic. It was dry as a desert. Excellent job!"

"Excellent workmanship and attention to detail. Owner Chris was very responsive and addressed all my questions. His crew arrived early and did a complete tear down and new roof in 1 day. Careful attention to removal and replacement shingles under step flashing, even caulked the downspouts removed/replaced during roofing. End of job Chris went around to check the work. Highly recommend."

"Weathertite did an amazing job all the way through. Installation of replacement gutters and downspouts excellent (and clean work as well!). Dave is an excellent sales manager, and he explained the Leaf X product so well. Also, special "shout out" to Joel who us a fabulous administrator. Highest recommendation to this team. Our house now has a nice added value with a permanent gutter solution (no clogs, no warped coverings)."

FAQs for new windows service projects in New Haven, CT

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
