"They're a small group, but the final work was amazing. They are very nice and diligent with everything they do. I loved the final product. Pat G is a really nice guy, although he was not able to get up the 2nd floor stairs to the room he had his people go up and do the quoting and the work. All great work, problem solvers, and didn't nickel dime us. Only critique might be they over promised a little with timing and always went a little longer than promised, but frankly it wasn't long process overall. He should just under promise a little more often. They worked hard and were craftsman (and women, i liked that too). Only other issue was draping on painting and tile grinding got a little messy, but they cleaned it up. OVERALL: Fantastic work, nice people, fair pricing, i highly recommend them."

"Great! Ricardo and the team were timely, professional and did great work. We have an older house with some tricky repairs and the crew was able to make the repairs, match the stain and they look great. We paid extra for the "dustless" service - well worth it to keep 99% of the dust out of the existing living spaces - but we still used plastic to seal off the living spaces as an added precaution. Whole job was done in under 3 days."

"Excellent.  Have used before and would not hesitate to use again.  They do not leave anything half-way done - everything perfect.  The men who work with Nick and his head construction planned, Rene, are very professional as well as friendly and cooperative.  The had to put up with a big dog "greeting" them, flights of steps, etc.  Everything went as planned and better."

"Everyone fears renovations and this was the easiest thing I ever did. Frank was always on time with his planned crew. He kept me on a strict time line and we had no delays. His design ideas and Perfectionist craftmanship left us asking for nothing more. He took care of Every detail and remembered everything that we discussed to the Smallest detail. His team of Consultant Electrician, Plummber and Workers all worked togther well. He ran t he team. His suggested People for Cabinetry and Counter tops were amazing. He works with a Cabinetry person who designed the kitchen with Frank. Demolition day was amazing. Everything Ripped out in one day and cleaned up."

"We are completely delighted. Everything went perfectly. Danny, our sales representative, was great at explaining options, and was always available for questions. The expert installers, Andreas and Dmitri, were fun to work with, responsive to our requests, and even installed our new doorbell. I look forward to working with this excellent company again for new windows."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in New-suffolk, NY

Pressure-treated lumber is the most inexpensive deck railing material. It's a cost-effective option that offers a good balance of durability and affordability for budget-conscious homeowners. Pressure-treated wood meets essential safety standards while keeping upfront costs low. In contrast, vinyl, polyurethane, and composite materials tend to be more expensive but offer additional aesthetic and maintenance benefits.

To calculate how much deck railing you need, measure the length of all the edges of your deck where railings are required (excluding any openings or areas bordered by the house). Since precise measurements are crucial, it's a good idea to hire a professional. Contractors have the expertise to accurately measure and install your deck railings.

In most cases, safety standards require railings on steps with more than four risers, steps wider than 44 inches, and decks over 30 inches high, measured from the next level down.

Railings should also be between 34 and 38 inches tall. Regulations can vary based on your location, so it's important to check your local building codes or consult a local contractor. There are also rules about the size of the gaps between pickets and between the bottom of the railing and the deck.

Before installing a railing on your front porch, you'll need to check local permitting requirements. Local building authorities may have specific codes that require a permit—or, in some cases, no permit at all. Reviewing your city's guidelines and consulting a qualified professional will help ensure your project meets all legal and safety standards, preventing any unexpected issues during inspections.

Deciding whether to repair or replace your deck railings depends on the extent of the damage and whether you can match new materials to the old ones. If you have minor issues, repair might be an option. However, when it's challenging to match existing materials, replacing the railings can give your deck a fresh start and reset its lifespan. A decking expert can assess your railings and recommend the best course of action to improve safety and maintain a cohesive look.
