"Jalen, Reggie, and DeShawn from FSM were incredibly professional and courteous. They worked fast and did fantastic work in our basement. They answered all of our questions, made sure we understood how to operate the systems they installed, and gave us a thorough tour of the work once they were finished. Excellent service."

"It went extremely well. Nova Basement sent someone out who assessed our problem and proposed a solution. The work was done within one day and we haven't had a leak since. A month after the work was done, our area had the heaviest 24-hour rainfall on record. Our basement stayed bone-dry."

"The Foundation Doctor did a great job! Don appeared to be very knowledgeable about foundations and drainage issues. He gave some very helpful suggestions, and actually recommended that we do less work than we thought we might have to do. There were a few delays in the process due to weather and other circumstances that Don couldn't foresee or control, but he kept us informed about the process--and delays--along the way. His team did some repointing of mortar for us which was a little messy. When we asked Don about this, he and his team came back to our home and cleaned things up pretty well. We were very pleased with the work Foundation Doctor did, and have found that it pretty much corrected our basement water problem. We have been managing that for many years, so we wish we had called them sooner!"

"The technicians were friendly and nice.  They had to come back twice and they had no problems coming back the second time.  However, the solution didn't work and we’re still getting water in basement."

"After some initial difficulty with securing an appointment the tech arrived on time. They were, as many such companies these days very careful with tracking dirt into the house (they wore disposable overshoes when getting into the house) and with cleaning up after themselves.  <br />  The tech immediately saw that the sump pump was defective and gave us the cost for replacement. He also explained why the sump pump had malfunctioned, what he was doing, and how the pump he was putting in was more powerful and would therefore probably last longer than the one in the rain-water reservoir in the basement. <br /> They had some difficulty in getting the new pump to fit onto the existing fittings but eventually were able to get it done in about 1.5 hours from the time that they had first arrived. <br /> The new sump pump is silent and has been working well for the last several months and we are therefore happy with the service and Randall & Sons professionalism. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The concrete floor along the wall and a trench to my existing sump pump had to be dug up and drain tile etc put in. This was done. The concrete that was relayed sloped almost two inches. This would make it impossible to put base boards back up. Mr Burke was contacted and set up an appointment to fix the concrete slope. The day before appointment it rained and the leak was still there. Iliana was contacted and they dug up there previous work and made it right. I don’t know what other appointment they had for that day, but they redid my floor ASAP. I’m giving them a A rating because they stood behind there work, and made it right. My work was redone January 23, 2019 and as of today April 8, 2019 it is still dry. They were nice and professional."

"Jorge and Armando did a great job.  They were punctual and tried their best to ensure I was satisfied.   <br /> The exterior foundation stabilization went very smooth.   <br /> The interior wall stabilization was very difficult and didn't end up perfect, however I believe they did the best they could with the given situation.   <br /> i would use their services again in the future. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in New-troy, MI

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
