"We used to love this service and gave them glowing reviews on Google in the past, but something has changed. Their customer service sucks, they don't apologize, don't call back etc. We had a hot water heater installed 2 years ago. It is still under warranty. Yesterday, 11/9/25, it broke and started leaking badly - still under a warranty from them. A.J. Perri advertises as they are 24/7 company, but they would not come yesterday and would promise us that first thing this morning, at 8 am, they would be knocking on the door. They never came, never called and never apologized. In fact, they have an attitude for misleading us and at 10 am mo one is here. The technician (do they only have 1 technician?) Is over 1 5 h away at another job. Customer service sucks with them really badly and now I feel as because we called them and voiced our dissatisfaction, no one will reach out to us or help us, while we are covered by their warranty. We had to pay for another service last night to pump"

He recommended removal of the screens to make the house look beautiful, and it was a great suggestion. We have original windows on the front, and they are 129 years old. We cleaned the interior windows ourselves to stay within budget and simplify the prep, but Gem's crew did "in and out" for the kitchen skylight and five basement windows, as well as a few that the crew must have felt demanded their touch. I can't say enough for their good work and positive attitude, given that the weather was frigid, they were pulled to fill in for another crew, and I wanted all the screens to be labeled (I followed him and labeled them myself). I wish I had found them years ago, before selling the house, which sold in two days :-) And yes, they even honored an Angie's List coupon!"

If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
