"Fast response to inquiry. Flat rate fee and was able to schedule the work within 7-10 days. The installer was on time, finished on time and was very professional. Site was left clean and tidy. Retesting after 5 days had reduced the radon to below 2. The install worked great and as they warranted it would."

Customers say: Quick response

"This is our first time buying a home and everything I read online made me feel I wasn't likely to find an inspector who actually took the time needed to really look at everything and give us a good inspection. I looked at 4 websites of inspection companies and chose Omega. The website provided information about Stuart and what his inspection covers. Our first call with him was pleasant and he was upfront about all the answers to our questions and the pricing. There were no surprises. He arrived early for the inspection, really took his time to examine, poke and test everything. He walked us through what he was looking at and explained any problems or lack of problems. He was very thorough and we'd recommend him to anyone! We'd also use him again if we have the need. You won't be disappointed with his service in any way!"

"I hired Erickson Foundation for radon mitigation. Job went smoothly. They communicated well, were very professional, and reviewed all potential options for the job with me. The system installation was done on time, professionally done, and well cleaned-up. The equipment is high quality, with the 10-year warranty being a big plus."

"First off - DO NOT DO PAY FOR THEIR WATER AND RADON TESTS!  They are over-priced and take way too long for results.  In fact we never received our water report!  Do it yourself, get tests from a reputable and more reasonable lab, such as www.etrlabs.com/ in Leominster.  We paid PC&A almost as much for the tests as the inspection and didn't have results within a week! <br /> PC&A also are pretty big on CYA, so don't expect too much out of the inspection report.  They were very good one-on-one during the inspection.  Although they pulled the classic 'get there 30 minutes early and do the roof first'.  When you arrive on time they will tell you 'oh, we did the roof first and found this and that', but they won't take you up there.  This is annoying, if you are going to buy a house, and pay for an inspection, and the roof isn't crazy steep or high, then you MUST walk the roof.  Preferably aided by a professional who can walk you through the various issue.  In our case the roof had all sorts of problems.  I didn't get a clear idea what they were based on the inspection and report and therefore had to pay a roofer to come out and walk me through the problems.  So I paid twice! <br /> All the negatives aside, we really did find the remainder of the inspection helpful, both the inspectors were knowledgable and responsive to questions, and brought issues to our attention.  We did not end up purchasing the house, based in part on issues uncovered during the inspection, so it wasn't a total waste of money.  When we did find the right house for us, we had a different inspector and did the water/radon tests ourselves.  In total it came in $450 less than with PC&A and the inspection/report was just as good, plus we had our inspection and tests results emailed to use within 48 hours. <br />"

"A&R was very responsive to our questions got back to us promptly with a quote.  Due to snow they had to reschedule our appointment, but they came right out as soon as possible.  Their work was excellent and we really appreciated that they left us with a radon test to allow us to test and make sure the system worked (which it did, with flying colors). <br />"

"The two techs were very professional and courteous. They installed a high performance radon fan and 3" pvc pipe with two different points of extraction in my basement. They had to work partially in a crawl space which made the install more difficult. They cleaned up all debris and left the work areas immaculate."

"MKC made the whole home inspection process extremely easy.  We needed to have an inspection in a short timeline (we were calling Thursday for the following week) and contacted MKC after reading reviews here and on Yelp.  MKC was able to accommodate this short timeline by scheduling us for the following Monday at 9:00 am. <br /> While our realtor had recommended other inspectors and MKC's price was a slightly higher than others, I was very happy we went with MKC.  We worked with Morgan, who was extremely thorough, detailed, and professional.  He was very attentive to all aspects of the house (from small items such as dishwasher positioning to larger drainage issues) and explained everything to us in detail.  He also took his time to check everything carefully, rather than rush the process, while taking thorough notes and photos.  The end result was a detailed and clear punch list report, which he prepared within 24 hours. <br />   <br /> We had planned to perform a radon test that day as well but unfortunately were unable to do so because of the amount of work still in progress on the house. We plan to have Morgan back both for the radon test and to check the results of the work on punch list items. <br />"

"Kevin Morrison is a classy, honest, punctual, responsive and a very thorough professional. I had him help me inspect a home I am planning to buy and was extremely pleased with his work. He answered emails, texts, and phone calls was very patient, showed 5 mins before the job start, came back on the weekend to install radon kit and back on Monday to collect it. Very respectful of people's properties and personable. He is a straight shooter and never tells you what you want to hear, but rather what you need to know. I will definitely hire Kevin for any home related work that he would be willing to do and recommend him confidently for home buying inspection."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Newton Highlands, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
