"Iâ  ve had major water issues in my basement for several years . Adirondack took care of the back( newer section) 5 years ago without further issues. Spring 2022, the front part of the basement was under 21/2 inches of water from ground water flowing (100+ year old house). I called Adirondack, explained the issue and they came right over and suggested a solution. It was very expensive but my basement had been bone dry ever since. From the office to the service people, they are kind , compassionate and Professional."

"Simons is the best company we have ever done business with in the North Country. We chose them to install five mini splits for both heating and air conditioning after getting five other quotes. We could not be happier with our decision. From getting the initial quote from John, to Honey and Missy in the office answering all our calls and questions, to Ryan and his partner installing the system on time and as promised — we have never used contractors this professional either in the North Country or in New Jersey! After it was installed and we went back to NJ, and we realized the Wi-Fi was not working. John went to our house first thing the next day, and worked with my husband over the phone to set up the app so we could monitor the temperature from NJ. Three months later, we arrived at our home in NY and it is the first time in 26 years that we were able to raise the temperature the day before we left NJ, and arrived to a warm and comfortable home on Lake George! Thank you everyone at Simons we look forward to working with you going forward."

"My experience was 100% excellent. I purchased the Angie's List deal for a new sump pump and warranty, they happened to have availability the next day and came exactly at the time they said they would. They were in and out in 45 mins and showed us how to operate the sump pump. We are extremely happy with the work. They took the old sump pump away and cleaned up. Good as new! Excellent company with excellent service. I will be using A Real Plumber again"

"Matt was on time (actually 5 min early)  He explained the process and made clear what didn't need to be replaced (drain pipes under sink). If we have other work will use them again without doubt

"Very well. They were on time both times, first when taking the initial measurements and later for the installation. They made helpful recommendations, particularly regarding back splashes and the sink, that made the end product better than expected."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in North-granville, NY

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
