"I came to know about Cady Handyman Services through Angie's List. We called Cady Handyman Services and they came within a day or two. It wasn't a super emergency as we had been able to keep the door shut, but it was of a major concern to us. The door protector piece underneath the door frame had come down and it was stuck to the floor. It was quite a big process to get the door shut. Once we got the door shut, we were scared to reopen the door as we might not be able to get it shut once again. My husband had to really struggle a lot to get that door shut. The handyman was calm. He was very good and very experienced. He went out of his way to help us out with the ceiling in another area in the door frame. It was just a small thing, but he was inexpensive and he really did help insulate better and that was beyond what we called him for. We would definitely use his service in the future too for any other home repair issues. They were very respectful, very kindly, and experienced. "This project took several months, but that's not unusual for a complete kitchen re-build.
Although there were a few delays, none were due to Sam Sharpe, who was always ready to start the next phase of the project faster than I would have the necessary materials ordered - particularly the custom cabinetry and the countertops.

Some of the best aspects are the one's that go unnoticed later, such as the thoughtful way that Sam set up the old cabinetry in our basement so that we could have a temporary kitchen while the construction was going on.

Detailing the entire process would be too tedious for this review, but I will say that Sam respected my desire to move forward in distinct phases, and produced detailed bids for each step of the way.

We are very happy with the results.  Our entire first floor has been transformed by the new kitchen and dining room.

"From the first contact to the last, dealing with GCM was fantastic!  I put a job up for bid with four contractors that I found on Angie's List, and they were very prompt in contacting me - not quick enough to show they didn't have enough to do but not so long that it appeared they had too much on their plate.
I set up an appointment to meet with Ben Meints to come out and look at what (I thought) needed to be fixed.  He arrived promptly and was professional and personable throughout the entire appointment.  We covered my initial concerns, and then proceeded to look at each area of repair.  One of the big problems was potential interior water damage due to several leaks in a pair of windows and the basement area almost directly below the window.  After having dealt with many contractors over the years, the level of attention to detail in his examination of the problem areas showed through.  He was able to get to the true source of the problems by asking questions about what I was seeing, as well as looking at other factors and really just keeping his eyes open.  Best example of this was when talking about the back deck, he started asking about the materials, any water issues around the sliding door and the basement area below it.  What I thought was an issue with pest damage (the subfloor between the main floor and basement had been chewed through by mice) turned out really to be an issue with the flashing and j-channel between the deck and the house.  Long story short, Ben was able to determine that the repairs that were truly needed were not as extensive as I thought they would be, and based his recommendations on what was needed to repair the damage and stop further damage to those affected areas.  I was initially thinking in terms of tens of thousands of dollars to repair the damage, and was relieved and pleasantly surprised when the estimate came in at a fraction of that.
When the work was to begin, Ben and the crew (Zach and Tom) showed up promptly.  (They actually showed up earlier than I thought they would, which was a pleasant surprise.)  The repairs went off without a hitch, and their pride in their work showed through.  They were also respectful of the fact that my wife was working from home that day, and made sure they had minimal impact on her work.  While all of the work couldn't be completed in one day, they got more done than I thought they would, and it was done well.  They updated my wife on the progress before they began to clean up and prepare to leave, as I was still at work.  I walked in just as they finished updating my wife on the progress, and they still took the time to go over the repairs with me and show me what had been completed and the remaining work to be done.  When it became apparent that the weather would not allow them to complete the repairs the next day, Zach let me know he would return the next day the weather wouldn't interfere.  He and Tom returned the following day, and the repairs were completed as promised.
In all honesty, I contacted GCM because the general contractor I normally used was unavailable, and I needed the repairs done before the damage got worse and winter set in.  After working with GCM, I think I have found a new first option for general contractors.  They take very good care of their customers from start to finish, and I would recommend them to anyone.

"Paul and his partner were great to work with, they arrived at exactly the time agreed upon and worked tirelssly, no breaks moving quickly from one project to the next for 5 straight hours. Although DIY home repairs is not their primary work (carpentry) they took it all on and completed more than I expected to get done in this period of time.
They were completely professional, did quality work and were easy to work with. Paul was very open about not doing work he was not licensed for - plumbing and electrical, but provided advice on how work could be done.

"Designer delivered on what she said she would do.  Was punctual and professional.  The design was functional and took into account specific items I had asked for.
I think my expectations of what the end product would look like in the custom viewer were too high.  The ad said it would show my ACTUAL kitchen with the selected products installed.  The presentation started with digital color photos of our current kitchen.  From there, I expected to see a digital color image of what the kitchen would then look like with the new products and new design (ie. a photo like image using real cabinet colors, counters, etc.).  Instead, we were shown a black and white drawing of what the new kitchen design would be.
