"I prepared a scope of work document for our 120 year old house and spent several months interviewing contractors, touring them through the project and conducting pricing and material/method reviews of their bids.
Chris from Allstar was literally the only one out of seven that got with the program in the first round.
Chris included all items on the scope doc in his bid. After much deliberation some of the items changed as I decided to approach them differently. I made detailed notes on five of the bids and asked for pricing revisions. Chris was again the only contractor who took this request on quickly and revised his bid accordingly within a few days. He is also easy to talk to - gives you the straight assessment of what should be done when unseen conditions present a challenge and can address whether or not that is aligned with the original plan. "They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. "He gave me a discount for being an Angie's List member. He is a licensed plumber and was able to fix the new steam shower. He fixed an oven. He worked quickly and did almost all of the projects in one day. He might be a little pricey, but he is quick. Let him know ahead of time if he needs certain parts for certain projects. He charges the same fee for his helper and himself. He is knowledgeable. It was a good experience and I will use him again in the future."
